I just finished Berserk which I loved. I'm interested in any recommendations for quality shows with an older animation style like in Berserk and Great Teacher Onizuka. I haven't seen much in terms of 90s anime. I'd also be interested in anything like Berserk. I've already seen Claymore. I can't really think of anything else similar.

Iria
Devil Hunter Yoko
Yu Yu Hakusho
Mobile Suit Gundam (Original)
3x3 Eyes
Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket
Golden Boy
Megazone 23
Nuku Nuku
Bubblegum Crisis
Excel Saga
Ninja Scroll
Cromartie High School
Otaku no Video
Petshop of Horrors
Ninja Ressurection *not as bad as people say it is*
Violence Jack

I just basically gave you a bunch of animes I like, because our taste in anime is extremely similar. Bolded titles are ones I can almost say without a doubt you'd like.
I'm back.

Slayers would probably be a good choice of the 90s animation.

I've started the original Gundam since I'm trying to watch all the Gundam series starting with the first as well as Yu Yu Hakusho. I've also seen Golden Boy and Ninja Scroll which I also really liked so those were all great recommendations.

I'm probably going to watch Cromartie next. Then I'll check out Bubblegum Crisis, Slayers, and maybe one of the others on that list. Which of those others if any are similar to Berserk? Or which do you think would be the best to watch if you could just choose one?

Thanks for all the recommendations.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes is all you need.

From the 90s, I would add Flame of Recca, Gunsmith Cats, Kare Kano, Magic Knight Rayearth, and anything Tenchi Muyo.

Anything like Berserk? Not really like Berserk, but try Record of Lodoss War or Bastard. Maybe Vampire D, Hokuto no Ken, and Ninja Scroll are kinda like Berserk in terms of atmosphere.

But a bit of Revolutionary Girl Utena at the side won't hurt either.

For more stuff similar to Berserk, you could always try the Shin Angyo Onshi manga (or manwha, whatever), it's not quite as dark but still great.

I wasn't expecting so many recommendations so thanks a lot. I'm going to be occupied for quite some time once I get around to Legend of the Galactic Heroes. I'll defiantly check the others out once I can since they all seem interesting.

Hell yes, I second Legend of the Galactic Heroes. The Vampire Hunter movies are good as well. Robotech if you like mecha.

Cyborg 009
Galaxy Express 999
Harlock Saga
Arcadia of My Youth
Golgo 13
Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water (only watch the first half. 2nd half is terrible.)
City Hunter
Aura Battler Dunbine
Venus Wars
The Guyver (also known as: Kyoushoku Soukou Guyver)
Irresponsible Captain Tylor (tv series, not the OVA)
Ronin Warriors

Serial Experiments Lain. Not really the same genre, but it is a classic (at least for psychological anime). Oh, and the artwork is superb given the style.
