So I grabbed an old K7T266 pro2 motherboard just because it was laying around and...
I installed a shit video card (Nvidia GeForce FX5700LE 256MB) and Windows XP booted up just fine...
I then took that video card out and put in my better one (ATI Radeon x800XL 256MB) and it just makes a bunch of beeping noises and nothing shows up on the monitor....
So any help or advice or info would be greatly appreciated, thanks. :)

I don't have much experience with swapping out video cards, but I would assume it is because your computer doesn't know how to use it, besides it being a hardware error, but I'm more of a software guy xP

Do you see your bios flash screen when you turn it on?
Are you sure all cables are plugged in and the card is plugged correctly into its slot?

I presume its probably a driver issue, in which case if you have enough slots boot up using your old card (or your onboard slot if you mobo supports it) and have the 2nd card inserted with the connector to your monitor on the 1st card (nvidia) then once you get into windows xp, install the drivers, shut down, take the nvidia out, plus your monitor into the ati and good luck.

But before doing anything fancy please confirm it is seated and plugged in correctly etc :)

Yeah, I took it in and out about 5 times and it was in there right...and I turned it on with the card out and it was still making the same noise, so I'm guessing the motherboard doesn't know what it is, after hours of searching I think I figured out that the slot is only 4x AGP and the card is 8x AGP, I'm not sure if that's the problem. But yeah the motherboard doesn't even have an onboard vid card and only 1 AGP vid card slot so I can't even hook it up to install drivers...

The bios doesn't flash or anything, it just beeps and the monitor stays blank.
Oh well though, I just put my old motherboard in the new case, it has a better CPU anyways...I'll just have to buy a new motherboard sometime soon.

Thanks suicide. :p

That should not matter, as agp 8x will happily run at 4x, just won't be as fast. I'm not sure what to do sorry, try the card on your other mobo to see if the card itself is faulty.

I think it may actually be the BIOS on your "other" mobo TBH, even if windows can't find a driver the BIOS flash screen should still appear.

It isn't impossible to upgrade the BIOS, althought something I generally avoid >.>
