Present Day He walked into the room. He was writing a book about the war..He called himself Max. He sat down across from the one he was going to talk to. "Hello, Mr. Walker. In your own words, tell me all that you remember...." Sean smiled. "It started out like any normal night. Me and four of my closest College Buddies were hanging out...." ------------------- 13 Years Earlier.... Sean was sitting playing Street Fighter 4 on his 360. "Can't beat Dan!" He laughed. On the smaller TV was Fox News. "Still no explanation on how the Riots started...." The reporter said. She was talking about the riots in New York City. Sean sighed. |

Psyche was sitting on the couch above him, her legs crossed and her torso reclining easily into the cushions. Her eyebrows were raised on her dark-skinned face, her eyes bright and happy. "You were always kind of shit at games like that," she said simply, moving her elbows onto her knees. Beside her lay a cell phone, which had been switched off after a harassing call from a boy who's name she could barley remember. On her opposite side was a small stuffed cat, which she brought with her everywhere. It was a habit she'd had trouble breaking. It had been lovingly named Sophie, and one of it's ears had been torn strait off, then stiched back on, and it's silky coat was long since matted. Pursing her lips, Psyche turned her attention back to the news report. "I feel bad for the police," she muttered. |

"Can't beat Dan!" "Ha... I'm sure he can't be beaten..." Mark sighed after rolling he eyes at his friend's comment. He dropped down on the dorm rooms couch next to Psyche, placing a Pizza Hut box on the table. As he opened the box, he picked up the first slice of the freshly delivered pizza. He pulled off a can of beer from a six pack and tossed it to Sean, "Heads up!" Mark called. Practically laughing his ass off as Sean, who reacted a little late, fumbled with the can. He then placed a can in front of Psyche. He didn't remember if she drank of not, "I'm sure he can't be beaten by easy AI, but my Ryu begs to differ. I just don't feel like kicking your ass right now," he snickered as he bit into the cheesy crust. "What's going on now?" questioned Mark, who had just entered the room from having come back upstairs. Not seeing anything on the news, since it started showing when he was gone. |

"Huh? Bullshit, Psyche! You know I could kick your ass with Dan, any day!" Sean snapped back. "Hell, Sophie could do better than you. And she is a stuffed fucking cat!" He grinned at her. He wasn't really insulting her, and she knew that. "So did that asshole call you again?" He asked her. He looked at the TV as she commented about the Police. "I agree..Poor Cops are just trying to do their jobs, and those assholes just got to fuck everything up. My guess is that they are having some kind of half-assed Revolution..." He opened the can and took a sip. He then grinned at Mark. "Your cheap ass Ryu can't handle my Dan." |

Psyche kicked Sean's thigh in retaliation and picked up Sophie. "Yeah, he called again, but no worries. I shut him up in record time," she said, pushing the beer away. "You know I hate your fucking alcohol," she added with as much disdain she could force into her voice. With the hand not clutching her stuffed cat, Psyche grabbed a piece of pizza out of the box and took an altogether unladylike bit out of the slice. [ooc] I'm drawing Psyche right now. I'll have it up as soon as the colorings done. |

"Tch. Sorry that you don't like my alcohol. With exams over, you know that my mind isn't all here," Mark said as he took the can back and placed it by the four remaining cans. He glanced up at the TV and began to watch the news, "Revolution huh... I'd hate to be over there right now," he added as he got up off the couch and headed into the rooms kitchen to hop up on the counter and started to shuffle a deck of cards. |

((Groovy)) Sean smiled at her. "Good." He was glad he didn't have to worry about her. He found her unlady-like demeanor rather charming in a way. He chuckled as he sipped his beer. "My Alcohol is fucking amazing, My dear Psyche" He paused his game and look at the news. "Agreed. Just hope it dosn't happen here. Least not as bad as New York." Riots popped up around Inner Baltimore last week. A full 7 days before New York. |

"Yes, well, my dear Sean," Psyche said as Jasmine walked in, apologizing for her lateness, putting on a sugary tone and matching hihs words. "You do remember the effect of alcohol, right? It rots your brain. Assuming you have any left to rot." She then turned to her incoming friend. "Finally! Another female. What's shaking, baby?" Her full lips curved into a grin. Picking up a slice of pizza, Psyche brandished it at Jasmine. "Want some? It's still fresh." |

Giuliette put down her cards and sighed happily, falling onto the dirty floor without a care. Exams were over, club activities were discontinued until the semester started up again, and she was with her very best friends. Nothing could make this moment any worse. The T.V. continued reporting about the recent Riots, slightly dampening her mood. What were these Riots about anyway? All the news did was continue to say that they had no explanation on how it started, but what were they about in the first place? She shrugged slightly. Oh well, it had nothing to do with her. Her mother was home as usual, her father, a minor police officer, was working outside the city, and her brother had gotten home hours before the Riots had taken place. And she was here, away from all the insanity of the outside world. "Hey Sean," she gestured, "pass me the controller. I'll play you with Sakura." |

"Blanka'd kill you in three seconds flat," Psyche said, eyeing Jasmine. "I'll even time it, if you'd like." She smirked. "We'll take it after Julie takes Sean on." She picked up the second controller from the table near her knees and tossed it to Julie, then leaned back again, placing Sophie next to her gently. She loved it when the five of them were together. It was so nice to know they were all safe, to know exams were over and they were free for the weekend and they were together. It was like a drug, almost, the smell of the closeness of the five, down to the feel of her shoulder's bumping against every one else's. |

Watching the TV she saw her dad. Jasmine eyes grew wide then the news told of his death. She was happy and started laughing. " He's dead......" Then she continued to watch to find out that the riots had him but also her mother. " oh no....mom......." She got up and went to the bathroom. She sat there on the toliet crying. |

Sean handed Julie the other controller. "I accept your challenge!" He grinned at Psyche, "As awesome as Balanka is, Dan is better. Better not fucking spam his thunder attack when I play you, Psyche" He un-paused the game and went to the Two-Player Character Select Menu. He of course, chose Dan. |

"Haha! Kick his as Julie!" Mark called out as his cell phone rang. He gave a disgusting glare at it, "Umm... yeah. I'll be back. I'm gonna go outside for a smoke," he said as he got off the counter. Going out for a smoke was code for chasing off the crazies "ex's" he had accumulated over the years. He didn't even notice one of his friends run out of the room crying. He walked over to the sliding down to the balcony and stepped outside, flipping his phone open and sliding the door closed behind him. Leaning on the ledge, he listened to the piss and moans of the girl that called him, a girl he dated for a day at least. For some reason, he found his mind drifting to the past as he lit up a smoke and continued listening. ------------------- (I',m editing the stuff under here for now. It's just gonna be a little flash to the present and a little back story deeper into his background and what not. Nothing that effects the scene going on right now. Giuliette scoffed as she chose Sakura on the Character Selection screen. "I can't say much about Dan other than that Super he does with him doing that cheesy smile and a thumbs up at the end. My brother played him once and we were laughing hysterically once we saw that." Once both players were selected, another screen slid into view displaying the different stages. Since Sean was the first player, she waited for him as he selected the specific stage. Dan Vs Sakura encompassed the entire screen, throwing her into fighting position. "Let's see how your Dan compares to my Sakura!" she smiled, preparing the motion to do a Hadouken followed by a spin-kick. |

Psyche turned her head slightly as the screen door pulled shut. She glanced around: Jasmine was in the bathroom, Sean and Julie were there... That only left Mark to have left. Her first intent was to stay away, because of the smoking. But after five minutes and she could smell no smoke, she stood, muttered something about going somewhere (she knew they were too busy playing to pay attention, anyways) and slipped out the door as well. "Mark? What are you doing out here alone?" [ooc] Take your time, as you're editing your last post. |

She licked her lips in anticipation, blocking and dodging attacks as she threw in some of her own to gradually build her Ultra and Super Bars. Her health bar was beginning to grow low, but her ace in the hole may yet bring her victory. Now to see if her plan would go off... Smirking slightly, she initiated her plan. Let's see if you can figure out what I'm doing Sean... The Sakura on the screen produced the same moves she started out with: a simple hadouken followed by a spin-kick. |

[ooc] Darnit. I have to start re-re-reading everything. D: [bic] "If you have the number, you can block them," Psyche suggested, sliding down onto her butt after Mark. She sighed and looked up at the clouded sky. Planning on saying something philosofical, she opened her mouth, but nothing came to mind so she turned her head back down to her hands and the cigarette that was slowly burning down to a nub. I figure that they deserve to bitch at me. Or maybe it's just that I want to them to yell, want them to scream at me at the top of their lungs..." he said with with a blank expression on his face. He flicked the extinguished bud into a waste basket that was on the balcony. He smirk, changing his expressions fast as usual, "Well, if any of us get cancer, it'd probably be that chain smoking idiot in there," he chuckled then let out a heavy sigh and leaned forward, "I'm SO happy I meet you all... but I still can't help but think of the what ifs of my actions before... maybe that's why I'm still haunted by the past..." |

She wants me to call everyday or else she'll get worried and come down here. So much for dorming." Giuliette put the phone to her ear, immediately listening to the dial tone. 'We're sorry, but the number you have dialed has either changed or is no longer in service. Please try again later.' Odd..., she thought sitting down and grabbing the controller, We've had this phone number for ages. It shouldn't just go offline. Hm, maybe Dad forgot to pay the electric bill again. |

Mark flinched slightly as Psyche's sudden movements. She had move from the side to right in front of him. Her eyes seemed a little hurt by his comments. He swallowed hard, while screaming on the top of his lungs in his head because of what his body wanted to do. Of the group of five, he knew Psyche the longest -and the best-, so they were a little closer than the rest of the group. But having been through a hell of a lot relationship wise, they had stayed just friends. He hung his head and averted his eyes slightly to look at the ground, "Heh... you're right. Sorry..." he said. Hell, it was all that he could manage to say, because her smile made his heart skip a beat. He reached for the ledge and pulled himself up to his feet, still averting his eyes, and headed to the sliding door. Mark could feel her eyes follow him as he reached for the door, "Same goes for you. If that bastard calls again, just let me deal with him," Mark added as before pulling the door open and walked back inside to grab another can of beer. He then headed for the recliner next to the couch and watched as Julie and Sean started up Brawl. |

Psyche stood as well, once he was gone, and leaned her elbows against the railing, closing her eyes against the wind. She wasn't quite ready to go in yet, she wanted to think. Having felt the tenseness in his usually relaxed body caused a ripple in her spine, and she shivered against the feeling. Pulling her hooded jacket tighter around her shoulders, she finally gave up on her battle with the outdoors and slid inside as well, taking up a post on the ground next to Jasmine. "Who won the first round?" she asked, purposely not looking at Mark. |

"Brawl? Alright." Sean Turned the 360 off and unhooked it from the main TV. He brought out his Wii and hooked it up. "Let's do this shit!" Sean shouted with a grin. He looked at Julie when he heard her phone. "Is something wrong?" Suddenly "Blitzkrieg Bop" by The Ramones began to play. It was his own cellphone. "Hello? Mom? Yeah, I'm ok. What is it? Yeah, there havn't been any riots near the harbor. What? Dead bodies coming back to life? Don't listen to that BS, Mom. Just because I read Max Brooks and watch Zombie Movies don't mean It is possible. Yeah? Ok. See ya. Love you too." He sighed as he closed his cell. "Seems there are rumors about that dead people are waking up. It's a hoax, I'll bet." He grinned at Psyche and Jasmine. "I won, of course. Though barely. And yeah, we can all play Brawl. She shook her head, still slightly worried that no one had answered on the other end. "It's nothing really. No one's answering the phone at home. It's odd though, not even the answering machine is on." Giuliette shrugged slightly. "I'm just thinking that maybe my parents didn't pay the phone bill or something." The excuse was sound but she still felt slightly uneasy, especially after the call that Sean received. The dead that come back to life? What was this, Shawn of the Dead? It's impossible that such a thing could happen in the real world...or could it? You never know what might happen in this world. Even her brother who was a zombie fanatic always had precautions in case something were to occur thanks to the series of Resident Evil games he enjoyed playing. Oh well, it wouldn't hurt to be cautious. "Hey Sean. Could you turn on the other T.V? I just want to see what's on the news about the riots. I'm worried about my family; they live on the suburbs near the city." Giuliette sighed before picking up her controller and choosing Pit. Maybe Brawl and the news could soothe her nerves that everything was all right. |

Sean nodded. "Of course." He turned the other TV on. FOX News Channel. Sean dropped his controller . A blue screen with large black letters spelling out "TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES" "Not good.." The explosion made Psyche jump and almost topple Jasmine into her side. With the riots and the calls of the living dead, she could feel her heart racing in her chest. "Another riot?" she wondered out loud. Getting to her feet, she moved to the door. Her dicision was made moments later, with only enough hesitatioin to allow a slight extra worry. "I'm fastest. I'll run down and check. I can be back in a minute or two." Of course, she took extra time putting on her shoes, zipping her jacket, finding her cell phone and Sophie and slipping them into her pockets; half hoping she would be stopped, half hoping she wouldn't. |

"Are you crazy?!?" yelled Mark as he jumped out of the chair. Sure the explosion made him flinch, but the thought of Psyche going to investigate made him pissed. Like hell he would let her go off like that, "You stay put," he said pressing the door closed which made it so she couldn't open the door. The difference in strength was obvious. "So what if you are the fastest? If you get caught up in the riot, would you be able to handle yourself?" he asked as he leaned in so that he was looking eye to eye with her, their faces were only a few mere inches from one another. "Me and Sean will go and check it out," he said as if his voice was ordering her to sit back down. He then turned and shot a look at Sean, "What are you waiting for?" he barked. Of course Mark had his shoes on the entire time, he carried a pocket knife all the time just in case. It was strapped to his ankle of obvious reasons, even though he knew Psyche didn't like him carrying one. His coat was just hanging on the the coat rack next to the door, and well... his cell phone was set to vibrate in his pants pocket. |

Psyche heart leapt into her throat and she narrowed her eyes at him. Her hands were clenched into fists, but she knew she couldn't hit him. "Oh? So now this is going to be a guy thing? You think it'll be a nice little outing?" she spat, watching him from the doorway. She kept her body in his way, blocking the door. "I'm not letting either of you two go unless I come too. And what about Jas and Julie? There should be at least three of us here to protect each other if the riot spreads out too much." Confedent with her arguement, she leaned back on her heels and crossed her arms tightly over her chest. |

Mark gritted his teeth. He didn't like where this conversation was going. The thought of letting her go made him furious, "Fine," he growled, "Sean will stay here, and I'll go. That's final" he ordered. He threw his coat on and marched into the kitchen, practically tearing out a drawer and placing it on the counter. There was a silver box stuffed in the back, and a padlock was keeping it closed. Taking the keys from his pocket, he undid the lock with an odd looking key. There was a gun inside of it. Oh... he knew how she felt about guns, "I'll be safe with this," he said with a annoyed expression and was kicking himself for the glare that he got from Psyche. He loaded it and hide it with his coat. He then walked back to the door, practically tensing up as he felt her flinch (he didn't even have to be by her to tell), "Don't think I can't move you out of my way Joanne" he hissed. Oh he knew he was gonna get slapped for that, but when he used her real name instead of her nickname, that meant he was just as serious as she was, "Now... are you gonna go sit down, or will I have to move you after all?" he growled. ((I updated his profile a little)) |

[ooc] I checked it. That's some crazy in-depth stuff. I might spiff-ify Psyches as well. [bic] Psyche's mouth was pulled into a thin frown, which was no easy feat, as her lips were thick and usually smiling. She was braced, her feet firmly apart. It was the first time the two had argued in a long time, and it was making her even more uneasy then before. His words hurt, especially the use of her real name, "JoAnne". He knew how much she hated that. Pain in her eyes, she continued to glare up at him. It was a desprate attempt, though. "I'm going with you," she said, clinging not only to the hope he would let her, but her dignity as well. Despite that she had known him for years, she had never let him boss her into doing anything. The gun was another thing completely. She hated them, and couldn't understand why he wanted to carry one on his person. |

Mark sighed and ran his hand through his hair, "Fine..." he felt at a complete loss. He reached for the doorknob and turned it, waiting for her to move, "But under a few conditions. One, you are to stay behind me at all times no matter what. And two, if I even so much as to feel that we are in danger, we are turning back. "Be careful guys!" Giuliette called as she watched the two make their way out to investigate the sudden explosion. "Call me if you find anything suspicious, all right? We need to be kept in contact at all times." She was scared beyond recognition, but now wasn't the time to lose her head. People's lives could be riding on her. Now think...riots, dead coming back to life, news stations out of order...all the makings of a Resident Evil movie. What they needed now...were weapons. But where to find some? "I know right... where the hell is the riot team?" Mark sighed. Didn't the police usually send them out to take care of things like this? Tch, fucking lazy asses. They continued walked until the got the the elevator. Mark pushed the button, but it didn't light up. After repeating the action a few times it finally dawned on him, "Looks like we gotta take the stairs..." he sighed. Great, they were on the 4th floor, and those stairs were a bitch to go down. The silence between them was killing him. Psyche had barely said anything since they left the group besides a simple 'uh huh,' or 'hmm..' Was she still mad at him about the gun? Or maybe from calling her by JoAnne... damn he regretted doing that. Think Mark! Anything to break this damn silence. "So..." he finally able to say as they had descended a floor, "Why do you and Sean always seem to flirt with one another...?" he asked. Dumbass! Is what his inner self had screamed in response to his words. Boy... he was on a roll today... |

Psyche, who was still upset by the current situation outside, was still hurt by Mark's outburst. First, he'd degraded her by not letting her go and acting as if it was a boy's duty to protect the girls. Second, he'd personally commented that she wasn't strong enough to handle herself in a riot. And third, he had used her real name. From very early on, she had made it absolutely clear that it was off limits to everyone but her foster parents (all of whom had thought her mad for calling herself Psyche, and she found they seemed to be hard-headed, so she allowed them to call her Joanne.) Toughts still on their argument, Psyche only managed to mutter and 'mm-hmm' at Mark's feeble attempts at conversation. She could tell he was unhappy about her silence, but she felt it was the least of what he deserved. On the other hand, his newest question threw her off her guard. "Why do you and Sean always seem to flirt with one another...?" Finally, she snapped out of her reverie. "Me and Sean... flirting?" she said in brief amazement. "Me and Sean. Flirting." It was more decisive this time. "We just... I... We're friends and... Just..." She wasn't sure she really had an answer for him. A real answer, that is. Her brow crinkled in thought. "I guess we're just messing around," she finished with a shrug. |

"I guess we're just messing around," she shrugged. Boy, that made him feel relieved. Not. He let out a simple 'Ah..' and their awkward silence ensured for the next to two floors, only briefly broken by more feeble attempts at conversation. Mark let out a heavy sigh and stopped ,"Look Psyche... I'm sor-" his apology was cut off as the lights shut off. A blackout? What in the hell was it now? He was fine with the dark, but when it was pitch black because there was no street lights on it only made it worse. On the other hand, he forgot how she reacted to the sudden changes in environment. He could never remember if she was good with the darkness, or what. Well all he had was his cell phone and a lighter... (Btw, the blackout is going floor to floor. So it hit the 1st, 2nd [Mark and Psyche's current location], 3rd, 4th [everyone else], 5th, etc. etc.) |

Psyche let out a strangled squeak and jumped back. Back hitting the wall, she plastered herself against it, her eyes closed tightly. Her fingers were wrapped tightly around Sophie in one pocket, and the other was flat against the wall. Taking long, deep breaths, she managed to calm herself enough to open her eyes. It didn't help much. Ever since she was young, the dark had disturbed her. She hated not being able to see what was happening, hated the feeling of not knowing who was there, where they were, or if they were moving. More specifically, she'd hated it from the third foster home on. The mother had turned off the lights early every night, and there was always one or two of the other children wandering around at night, often singing nursery rhymes. "Mark?" she choked. "God damnit. Mark? Where are you?" |

Mark fumbled around his pockets for his cell phone and flipped it open, "I'm right here," he said in a reassuring voice as he grabbed her hand, cringing slightly as her fingernails pressed into his flesh. Yep... now he remembered, she hated the dark more than the thought of the guys smoking. Even more than her ex. Her entire body was trembling, so Mark pulled her closer to try and calm her down, "I'm here o-" he was cut off once again as the door to the first floor opened up. A bright light shown in their faces, "What are you guys doing here? The entire dorm has already been evacuated!" called a teacher that had came back to double check the building. "E-evacuated? This is the first I heard about that!" Mark growled. Thinking back, it was a little strange that all the dorms were empty. Oh... that's right. That idiot Sean was 'fixing' the intercom last week, or said he was at least. After realizing this Mark cussed Sean's name under his breath. "Well what are yo-" the teacher said before growing pale. He slammed the door shut and held it there. A loud rapping echoed fro the other side of the door, "What the fuck?" bellowed Mark who instinctively started going back up the stairs with Psyche's hand locked into his. Her told her before leaving the room 'If I even sense we are in danger, we are heading back' or something along those lines. All he knew was that the pounding on the door screamed 'GET THE HELL OUT OF THERE' in large bold letters. |
