Yeah I really liked him, he was unfortunately made fun of alot because his Dutch was pretty horrible. But at least he tried.
I still don't get why Twente made him leave, he seemed like a nice game and made Twente play pretty good. I guess it was because the season before they had become champions and he didn't manage to prolongate the title.

Dunno about his Dutch but he can still speak fluent Portuguese. With an accent obviously, but I'm surprised he hasn't lost it.

Didn't he lose the title in the last game? I can understand Twente's supporters frustration.
Yeah he did, but I still thought they were ungrateful especially since prior to 2007 Twente didn't really hold any significance in our competition.

then 2 promotions and a 12th place prem finish in 3 years made up for it.
Must've sucked pretty bad. But that's why I love the premier league, a club can be a regular in the mid-tables and suddenly relegate 2 years in a row.

Or like Swansea which was still in the 4th league in 2005 and are now mid-table in the premier league.

Bundesliga and Ligue 1 are the best leagues for that kind of thing. There's like a different champions every year. And in one season, a team can end 2nd, and in the next one end in 11th.

It was not until 2006 or so that AZ Alkmaar and Twente began gathering attention outside of the Netherlands. I heard AZ haven't been good lately, though. Also, why such an unimaginative badge? Seriously?

That's true, but the Ligue 1 only started to get interesting the last few years. I mean Lyon was champion for like what 6 years in a row?

Yeah the AZ logo is pretty dull, not that Feyenoord's is any better.

Bundesliga is going to suck from next year on with Gardiola leading Bayern to 4 championships in a row, making them the German Barca.

I was really surprised by them signing van Wolfswinkel, especially for such a prize. I felt there'd be better available for that kind of money.

Strangely enough, I like Feyenoord's logo. Last time I went to Rotterdam, I got a poster from their official store and everything.

Lyon won the league 8 times in a row, i think. Before that, Ligue 1 had about 15 different champions in 15 seasons. And ever since Lyon stopped winning the league, there has been a different champion every season.

inflated fees due to this new tv deal are to be expected. 8mill is the new 5 mill.

his scoring record (all be it in holland and portugal) look pretty good to me an i presume he's still got time to improve.

Would not trade Cardozo or even Lima for him, but van Wolfswinkel's biggest problem was going to the wrong club. :D

If I had to sign a Dutch forward, I'd sign Luuk de Jong.
