I'll blindly recommend: - Dance in the Vampire Bund - Dragonaut (can't remember a thing about it though, so I'm just assuming they get together early) - Katanagatari - Kurozuka - Rec (not action, but very good) - School Days (more to thriller side) - Tasogare Amnesia (not an action and - technically it's early) - White Album (not an action) Also, seconding My Bride is a Mermaid |

I'd also suggest Spice and Wolf. There's not a ton of action, but there is some. They also don't become a couple until the last episode of the second season, but the characters are so well developed and witty it doesn't really matter. Just watch it :P |

| There might be quite a few more manga with this set up although that is just due to the fact their are more manga than anime, it isn't that their is a disproportionate amount of manga with this set-up when compared to anime... a few I can think of (although going to loosely follow guidelines so I will mention where it might not be what you are looking for) are: - Baccano! (... Well this kind of fits however a few words of warning, first is that their are a shit tone of MC's in this anime, second is that it may be confusing however everything does happen for a reason and is truly brilliantly done, and 3rd is that the couple I'm referring too in this anime (Isaac and Miria) are more just added for comic relief in an otherwise very intense action/mystery/thriller) - Berserk (well this fits and has a nice romance... Well lets just say you should probably read the manga if you like the anime up until the last episode because... well lets just say it won't have the ending you are probably looking for... anyways a very good and dark action with romance, but again the ending for the anime is pretty troll) - Blue Gender (I may be wrong and the romance might be farther towards the end of this anime however I do remember it being in the middle and onwards from there, another darker anime but with a happy ending, it also has a very old animation style which I'm unsure if you can tolerate) - Eureka Seven (one of my favorite romances found in an action anime, I think the romance is mostly one sided until later on however it really does have some sweet moments and since its 50 episodes their is romance with them together for more than just 1 or 2 episodes) - Katanagatari (Well it certainly fits, I didn't like the romance too much however it did fit the bill, and the actual anime was pretty good so its not like you will be disappointed there) - Mobile Suit Gundam Seed (well lets see, the main romance won't happen until about 3/4 in to the first season however their is a second season where they are together for the whole time so... lets just say their is alot of romance and not just w/ the main couple either. however it is sort of long (each season is 50 episodes) so whether you can stand long anime is up to you) - NightWalker (darker toned anime and a little bit older animation however the ending is also happy (in case you watch Berserk and think all seinen will end like that, just clarifying that), their is some drama towards the end in terms of their relationship however that is cleared up so for the most part this is a darker toned anime with a cute couple) - Speed Grapher (think their is romance that starts off very early in the anime, and is mutual however unsure when they start actually "going out", another darkly toned anime, and also have been recently informed (sorry but thought its important to mention this) that the series is kind of repetitive, I didn't remember it being like that but haven't seen it for quite a few years so just forgot about that bit completely... in other words nice romance but I can't guarantee the quality of this one) I would also like to second Dance in the Vampire Bund (reading the manga though so don't know about the anime), as well as Kurozuka (however this is a mind f so... might want to make sure you watch it on a day where you ready to concentrate). As for Dragonaut... I remember that they do "get together" earlier on but the anime was just... I usually power through bad series however I stopped watching it, I mean it was ok but as proven, easily forgettable. Also one last thing... Add anime to your list!!! It isn't hard, just Ctrl+c what you have listed, go to the search bar, Ctrl+v it and then add it to you list as completed... makes it alot easier to recommend things in the future once people have known what you have seen and if you really liked a series or hated it will also help. (can do this by using the rating system) Edit: Sorry just posted then saw a post above mine and read it... Kämpfer, Highschool DxD, and Rosario + Vampire are like three of the biggest examples of an ecchi/harem... I mean its fine if you enjoy it but with the OP stating he hates harems I just wanted to point that out. |
