ive been searching for days and every time people always suggest the same generic romance anime ai yori aishio, clannad, itazuna na kiss, etc...

people talk about them so much its like you have had no choice but to see them ive now turned to subbed romance since i never really leaned in the subbed direction and now i need

real romance anime like please teacher, this ugly yet beautiful world, anything that is based on romance and has a relationship and does not wait until the very last episode to hook up

Nana
5 Centimeters Per Second
Victorian Romance Emma
Kimi ni Todoke
Macross Frontier (moves have the conclusive ending, but the series is very good)
Planetes
Otome Youkai Zakuro
Romeo x Juliet (this develops the relationship more than the original play, imo. Fantasy remake with lots more action)
Spice and Wolf
Summer Wars
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time

Erm, I'm curious about your dismissal of Clannad. The thing is, that anime takes it way beyond their getting together and into marriage. Can you really dismiss that as 'generic' until you've seen it?

Sakamichi no Apollon. You'll be hooked after the first episode.

I know I've made a few suggestions to you already.

Marmalade Boy has an official English Dub (since you prefer it). It's a slightly older anime but it is a full on romance anime with a happy ending (after all the drama). It's not on your list. Couple hook up and have a proper relationship after some initial build up. It's a long series 76 episodes and a short movie which is highly recommended to get another perspective on the relationship.

If he wants romance he is going to be sorely disappointed with that. Friendship on the other hand...

Anywho:
Nodame Cantible
Honey and Clover
Spice and Wolf
Amagami

Amagami SS/ SS+
Spice and wolf
Kimi ni todoke ( Probably one of the few good shojos, manga included)

The reason I asked is because it's not on your list. Neither are the others you say you've seen. I think that you'll get more in-target recommendations if you have a more accurate list.
