Okay so what I'm looking for is an anime in which the main character is labeled as some sort of monster, or is destined to destroy the world and what not, but the character is actually a hero and is just misunderstood. If you've seen Dentetsu no Dentetsu? (legend of the legendary hero's) or Kaze no Stigma, an anime like either one of those would be great.

Oh and also if you know any good anime in which the main character has a tragic past that would be awesome too.

Sorry for putting so many speculations and what not, but just feel free to recomend what ever you have on your mind, any help is welcomed, run out of stuff to watch, Thanks all.

Edit: Also if you know of any anime where the character is really strong and people are scared of him because of it but he is actually gentle or kind?

No doubt about it: you need to watch Trigun. The mc is known on the whole planet to be a freaking monster, leaving behind destruction wherever he goes. While the story progresses, we learn about his sad and lonely past.
Of course there are also the two girls following him everywhere and beginning to see who he really is.

Dude, totally Trigun. You need to see it! Like, seriously.

Main character, Vash the Stampede, is known to be the "Humanoid Typhoon" who destroys cities, kills woman and children and stuff. When in reality, he's just actually some goofy guy who's so epic yet really funny.

All of the stuffs that happened to him mostly have connections to his tragic past, too.

The anime Monster, for sure! It takes a few episodes, but the show is all about that. Also, Scrapped Princess from your PTW.

I cannot agree with both of these recommendations enough. You cannot go wrong with Trigun. It takes that kind of story at heart and delves on it rather perfectly with a pretty damn satisfying conclusion. So here's my own recommendation of this great series:

Trigun- Pretty much how a good shonen should be written. It's a shonen-seinen classic and definitely one of the most respected anime alongside Cowboy Bebop. It's sci-fi western, with tons of comedy, action, and later on in the series, some dark themes about morality. The animation isn't always the best, but what is here works and it gets good when it counts. What makes this shine the most is the writing and its deep focus on the themes of morality/survival. It's about an outlaw called Vash The Stampede who has a bounty on his head for $60 billion double-dollars. He's called the Humanoid Typhoon because every time he visits a town, trouble follows him leaving the town in ruins as if a natural disaster had just occurred. The first half of the series is episodic as it merely introduces you to the basic motivations and personalities of the main characters, while second half goes for a darker mood, shifting the focus on the actual story behind the Vash and the series.

Seconding Scrapped Princess - awesome series, with very nice setting and characters
good choice to see

and if you don't mind comedy there is Kyouran Kazoku Nikki - characters are labeled as those who can destroy world but due to certain circumstances they work to save it and create normal family... ahh and they indeed can destroy the world - good comedy with quite a few touching moments

--Nice to hear from someone familiar with Scryed. Awesome music as well.

. . . and, as trite as it sounds, I'm thinking of the nine tailed fox aspect of Naruto. There's also a touch of it with Able Nightroad in Trinity Blood as well.

Hmmm, Rahxephon. And in a similar vein, Neon Genesis Evangelion. However, the MC's destructive potential is generally unknown. Bound to be more I'm just not thinking of at the moment.
-animeS - The plural of anime is anime. More than one deer is still deer. There is no damn "s".
