First off, I don't know if this is where I should ask for a recommendation. I don't think the anime & manga sub-forums fit this really well though so yeah....on to the meat:

Honestly, I have never ever watched an Asian drama. Never thought about it even though my parents have watched a ton of them while I was around...

I really want to try watching one. Any Asian language is fine but I prefer it being Japanese (I want to brush up on my Japanese).

I want some intense drama/romance heh...I hope you guys don't disappoint me.

-Hana Kimi (the original, not the 2011 remake)
-Boys Before Flowers/Hana Yori Dango (just because it's so popular)

One litre of tears is heavy. start with something fun. ;)

This series is called orange days. you follow 3 men and 3 women through university. They are a friend and its very pleasant slice of life / romance. also alot of heavy romance here, not like anime romance with ecchi and stupid stuff. but more of actual comitting between the character.

Give this series a shot, and download it or see it in good graphics, as it is a quite new series.

I dont know about movies, but despite being series, Orange Days is a worthwhile time investments, with unique elemenet not found in any anime or movie really - japanese sign language for deaf. The main female lead can show how sharp and even cute it can be.

Koizora (movie) was really really sad! :( I highly reccomend it. The storyline is amazing and the cast are great ^^ Yui Aragaki x Miura Haruma

Oh and also Hana Yori dango! That show will always be my top favorite!

Start with Nodame Cantabile, out of the very popular ones it's the best, very funny - dorky - romantic - cute and very anime-ish. most people like hana yori dango, not my taste, but you probably can't go wrong to start with this one either.

it really depends on what you like. i would recommend you not jumping straight to the popular dramas because they overshadow the true gems.

The life of a pirate is a short, but merry one.
