| A surge protector wouldn't have helped. Only the static from the lighting did that. If lightning decides to strike your house directly, and you dont have a good ground, no surge protector on earth (well consumer at least) will help you. |

(example: 110v shoots up to 220V) I've seen ton of surge protects fail to protect the important stuff. Also, surge protectors are one-shot only usually. SO they aren't good anymore once you have a real surge. |
