Hidamari's manga is more linear than the anime, but I can't say that it's better because the manga doesn't have the adorable voices of Yunocchi and Miya and Yoshinoya-sensei.

I'm Constantine (call me Kosta if anything), I'm from Israel (not originally, though), I love anime, videogames, music, football (the proper kind =D ), and really ordinary introductions, like this one.

Happy to be here.

We're very happy to have you too! :) Hope you'll have fun and find many topics of your interest. You can also open up a new topic if you can't find something similar in our forums.

@xen20: welcome! Israel? That's great!
I had two friends from there in uni, but i haven't seen them since last year, this brings back memories ç_ç one of them brought me a delicious pomelo once and another time a wooden case full of Wissotzky tea, i was so happy! Wissotzky chai masala is the best! *__*

It's also nice to see Greek people here, I was playing an MMO on a Greek server for a long time - sadly, the only words I remember, are eleos, ellinas, and something I'd rather not say (starts with an M :P ).

Indeed, Wissotsky tea is great, though I prefer those Impra assorted boxes with lots of fruit tea. Where are you from, Catpaw?

Welcome, moreanchika110! (I myself joined only yesterday!)

@Catpaw: Were they medicine students by any chance? Medicine is nigh-on-impossible to study in Israel, so lots of Israelis go to Italy or Hungary for their degrees. Frankly, I'm considering Italy for medicine myself - I'm currently studying French, and Italian should be next in line, being from the same family of languages.

Runewords? Important ones: check ^^
I like Starcraft as well, but I didn't play SC2 so far. I am waiting for Dia3 O.o

I Know Einstürzende Neubauten, theyre qute ok. Have you heard of Goethes Erben or Samsas Traum? Those are two of my favs.

I'm more serious with SC2 though, i study those damn build orders but it's difficult to keep up to date due to constant patches that change everything. I don't even want to think about what will happen with the expansion in the next months xD
Diablo 3 looks totally epic! I won't have time to play it, but the previews were astounding. Well, that's Blizzard for you ;)

I don't know them, the only true German metal band i know quite well is Rammstein, but they're famous :)

Hello all, I am new to this club... I have been trolling up the comment board the last couple days, but never bothered to actually fill out an intro on the forums, so here is the overdue introduction.

mmm, I am a 22 year old guy from Salt Lake City, Utah, in the US... I have been watching anime and reading manga for around 15 years, so while my profile shows alot of anime and manga, realize it is spread over a long period of time. ^^

I am a fan of anime and manga, but am neither otaku or weeaboo... :P I hate the douches wearing Naruto headbands that try and talk me up when they hear I watch anime too (hey man, you watch anime too, I am so an otaku; have you heard of bleach?)--oh god the rage.... I HAVE been to Japan (for 3 months; I had some spare money, and wanted a vacation); and while I enjoyed it, it is hardly an Eden or Mecca. (some people on the comments section asked me to upload some pics; I have been too lazy to do this in the past... so it may be a couple days) I know some Japanese, although I am far from fluent... but enough that I read some of my manga (mostly stuff that is not fully translated yet; currently trying to finish Ashita no Joe in Japanese( since I can't find it fully translated).

I prefer manga over anime, and while I will read literally anything (yes, even yaoi; though honestly most of it is crap) I prefer Seinen manga the most. Here is a picture of my manga collection (I don't collect anime or various other dolls, dakimakura, onani-holes, etc; JUST manga... :P)

I tend to be a very open person, I can count of my hands things which offend me (only things I can think of is being talked down to by religious zealots, and weeaboos}. I tend to be a bit logorrheic, so bear with me.

By the way...what is otaku. Yeah, I know the meaning, but shouldn't there be a wider definition? If its like being anime crazy and liking stuff only a few percent of people like...hell yeah call me otaku. If it means to run around like Inuyasha when watching the movie in cinema...hell no!

I consider myself Goth/Punk/Metalhead as well...but I don't think I always have to show that on the outside. Its all about yourself and your inner being. For me...^^

Equilibrium + Eluveitie are both exceptional bands... :)

Otaku actually literally means "one's honorable house" or somethin like that... :\
The actual meaning, is a person who is thoroughly obsessed with something; like not just a normal fan. We are talking about someone that is so obsessive that they lose their touch with reality... to be completely honest, being otaku could likely be defined as a mental illness. Otaku can refer to extreme fan-dom of almost anything, from Military otaku to Train otaku. Naturally, this is often Anime, Manga, Idol fans which get this extreme. Americans assume that Otaku is a title used to show a person is a fan of anime... greeeaaatttt... leave it up to the people who made it so hentai meant animated porn (try using the term hentai like that around a Japanese person, they will have no idea what you are talking about). >_> In Japan, calling someone an otaku is almost always an insult; otaku is practically synonymous with pedophile. You don't want to be called one... and calling yourself one with pride usually makes you look stupid. (Imagine a person who collects bottlecaps, you go to his house and it is filled with bottlecaps... all he talks about it bottlecaps, he admits he thinks of nothing else... His family has left him because he is unable to provide or connect with others on an emotional level. Would you think this guy is "cool"? Would you respect him? Even if he takes pride in his hardcore hobby, it is not healthy, and in no way something that someone who is not completely deluded would take pride in.) Even with how much I have watched and read, I am just a normal fan. Anime is not such a great addiction that it supersedes everything else in my life. Most self proclaimed otaku, have not actually watched that much, and just misunderstand it. That or they are weeaboos. >_>

Trust me, you have watched like 20 days worth of anime... this rarely constitute a hardcore fan. Watch about 20-30 times that, and then we will talk about you being considered otaku... :P

After that decent description...no, thanks :D
I never tought of it, I just snapped that word and found it quite funny. Most things I read about otaku referred to that word in a way that described it like "nerd".

I won't call myself a nerd tho...but a freak? Yupp I think so :P
I'm a freak of society in a society of freaks...:D

I just like Anime...and I want to visit Japan some day. So...I won't ever consider myself otaku, thanks to your description ^^

You truly enlighted me at this time...gosh...I should get some sleep..I am hardly awake right now ;) Thanks and see ya around

hi everyone! my name's Ash. im new to this group. didnt even know it existed until yesterday when i stumbled upon it by accident. i'm 20 years old (so also new to the 20's haha) and ive been into anime for about 2 and a half years. I am a junior in college and i would say i lead a very crazy and diverse life.

anime is a pretty big hobby of mine i would say but im also really into jdoramas and the occasional kdrama. im also a nerd and i like to sleep all the time :D i got into anime with sailor moon and dbz as many people around my age did. i did not know it was anime at the time but i had a dream about those shows one day in high school and decided to watch them again. in dub (yuck!) and one thing led to another and now here i am.

if anyone has any recommendations for me please let me know!

And my all time favorite anime/manga ever is One Piece ^.^ yay

i know right. it was destiny.

ooooo thanks guys! ive always kind of wanted to go back and watch kenshin for real. i remember the ads on toonami for it but never actually saw an ep. vandread ive heard of but no nothing about. so i will look into both of them :)

my favorite genre is something that is action (or a really deep plot) and romance. or supernatural romance

examples: clannad, gundam seed, chrno crusade.

those are a few of my favorite anime. i cant think of a good way to describe shows like that but if a show has little or no romance in it i have a very very hard time sitting through it. i guess thats the hopeless josei fan in me.

Since you like romance and a bit of fantasy as I understood, you might want to watch the anime version of "Romeo x Juliet". I'm currently watching it, almost finished it, and I can say with certainty that it has a little of everything and surely tons of romance! You might want to try it out if you haven't yet! ^.^
