| Does Cloud prefer Tifa or Aeris? In my opinion Cloud prefer Tifa because they are childhood friends. What do you think? |
| He is in love with Tifa. He obviously cared for Aerith, but I think that whether or not that was more than attraction is left up to interpretation(meaning if you prefer Aerith you can choose to believe that all the player options you picked where you were sweet to her over Tifa are what actually happened even though they aren't canon, same as Tifa's fluffy moments before Cloud got his real identity back). Once you enter the Lifestream scene of the game it's smacking you in the face with how Cloud was pretty much obsessed with Tifa when he was growing up with her in Nibelheim. Yeah, you could say that was only in the past, but they also spend the night under the Highwind airship together. There are two version of the scene but apparently the high affection, romantic version is considered canon to the storyline. It was featured, along with every other canon couple in the series in one of their Ultimanias on a page titled "For the One I Love" and it says that Cloud and Tifa confirm with each other without words(hint hint) that their feelings for each other match. So if it's made no secret that Tifa is head over heels for Cloud and they have feelings that match, I mean come on. Also, Cloud says it himself(in his Cloudy way)in Case of Tifa, which was written by a writer from the game to bridge the gap between the game and Advent Children. This little excerpt is set immediately after the final battle after Aerith calls forth the Lifestream and saves everyone: As Tifa looked away from the sky towards the ground, she was fearful of the future. However, Cloud beside her chose to smile gently. It was a smile that she hadn’t seen before during their journey. Cloud noticed her gaze and asked, “What’s wrong?” “Cloud, you’re smiling.” “I am?” “Yeah.” “It all starts now. A new…” Cloud looked for the right words. “A new life.” “I’m going to live. I think that’s the only way I can be forgiven. All sorts of things… happened.” “That’s right…” “But when I think about how many times I’ve thought about how I was going to start a new life, it’s funny.” “Why?” “Because I’ve always failed everything.” “That’s not funny.” “After this … I think I’ll be okay.” Cloud was silent for a long time before he spoke again. “Because I have you this time.” “You’ve always had me.” “What I mean is kind of different,” Cloud answered with another smile. ^You gotta admit, for Cloud that's actually pretty bold and forthright. |
| Well, I never liked to debate(I dunno why they call it debating when it's just ugly arguments), but I did read ltd topics back then because VII was my all-time favorite game, CloudxTifa my favorite couple and I like to find out whatever I could. Sakaguchi didn't write VII. He came up with the initial scenario idea, which was supposed to be a detective stroy set in New York in 1999 where a character called Detective Joe was in hot pursuit of the party. The only thing between that first idea and the finished product was the city of Midgar, which was going to be in that first scenario. Kitase and Nojima wrote VII. Nomura directed Advent Children, Kitase produced it, and Nojima once again was scenario writer. All the people who were really responsible for VII's story are involved in the Compilation. So, it does count. It's all canon. Kazushige Nojima wrote all the Case of novellas, they count. I think a lot of people want to discount the Compilation because they're disappointed in it. I know I am, but it's definitely all completely canon. |
| Yeah, Sakaguchi was credited because they used pieces here and there from his original idea(like Midgar). Nomura worked with the scenario writers to take Sakaguchi's idea and change it to what they wanted VII to be. I agree, the LTD is horrible with the bashing, and I also think that Aerith and Tifa are equally important to Cloud. I don't think Cloud(not like he's real, but y'know)sits around making top ten lists comprised of the people in his life. I just think they've made it obvious he has a different dynamic with the two of them. The Barret and Yuffie dates were definitely better! I like how Barret was freaking out like "Stay away from my baby, Marlene's too young for you, perv!" and Yuffie is the only girl that actually kissed Cloud. That cracked me up, how after she did it Cloud got all quiet and Yuffie's like "Say something!" and Cloud just says ".... Something." Hahahaha. |
| he cared for aeris a lot~ he liked her that's why the fandom started shipping them... butthey can't deny that he loves Tifa , play the first game adn you will know why... So tifa for sure~ |
| This has been debated for as long as I remember even to nowadays. I think in the end, it all comes down to the interpretation of the player as SE didn't really release any canon pairing. But I've been CloTi all the while and Zerith. I believe Cloud have strong feelings for Tifa since they were young. That sequence in FF7 where they both fall in the lifestream is a good reason to believe so imo. Cloud cared for Aerith. In AC / ACC he wanted to seek forgiveness from her, for not being able to protect her. She is an ally and a dear friend to everyone, and I think that's all there is to it. I haven't read Maiden because while SE approved of it to be published it wasn't really written by them so I don't consider it to be Canon. But again whatever is the case, Nomura left it all in our imagination. :) |

I know I'm in the minority here, but since Sakaguchi, the other writer of the story, had no involvement in the compilation, I don't count anything other than the game. But yeah, the lifestream scenes are a plus to Cloti, and I always believed if Cloud would choose Aerith over Tifa had Aerith lived it will only be because Tifa didn't confess her feelings to him. Tifa in Disc 1 reminds me of Madoka from Kimagure Orange Road when Madoka decided to keep her distance when Kasuga, the boy that she liked, was dating her best friend, Hikaru. even if you don't include the compilation cloud tells tifa straight out that nothing has changed, when his mind is set back together. that's proof enough. |

| I think Cloud loves Aeris. He starts off having a crush on Tifa, and left so that he could become good enough for her, but then he meets Aeris. Although he definitely cares about them both, his main motivation for fighting Sephiroth is for revenge because of what he did to Aeris. |
