I really say that the hardest battle was the fight between father and son.... (Jecht and Titus) all the other battles were hard but not as hard as the final battle

it wasn't really that hard, yu-yevon was far from being the hardest battle...

I wouldn't say it was necessarily a hard battle (personally I thought it was pretty much a piece of cake, what with the auto-life). However, I can see someone maybe thinking it was tough if you weren't leveled up enough to do decent damage. If I remember correctly yu-yevon healed itself, so if someone wasn't able to do enough damage to get past what yu-yevon regained through the spell then it could definitely be a pain.

Hehe. I for one wouldn't want to take out the final boss with a phoenix down. I would imagine that does kind of defeat the purpose of leveling up through the entire game - you spend all that time developing your characters and then just pop an item that you've been carrying with you since a few hours into the game. If that's the case we could've beaten yu-yevon back in Besaid. But hey, it works I suppose. Especially if you're in the case like I described above. But if you're in that case, chances are you probably spent all your phoenix downs on the final aeon.

i didnt mean u said it, but i agree tht it can be a frustrating battle, but with the one hit kill and not being able to die in place, it's not the hardest boss fight ever. (which is wht someone told me, and the reason i started this disscussion) as i said i totaly agree with u genius. :)

Yu Yevon is not really hard if you trained in Omega Dungeon beforehand, had the Celectrian Wepons and was hitting 99,999 with normal attacks. Armour with Auto-Phoenix, Auto-Potion and some others (maybe Ribbon) would also help.

The arena monsters and Dark Aeons (if you had the Europe/PAL version) was when it got tough; the hardest in the game was probably that last Dark Aeon you face when you have defeated all the other DAs and created monsters (I didn't get that far, got stuck at Dark Bahamut)

This is slightly off topic, but while we're on the topic of the PAL version, do you know if the NTSC save can be loaded by the PAL version? Like if I were to purchase it can I load my old game or would I have to start all over?

Oh, don't quote me on this, because I'm not entirely sure, BUT I would imagine it won't work, as they both are technically different games. I'm 90% sure it shouldn't work, but theres no harm in borrowing/renting to try right? [/off-topic]

Btw did anyone defeat Penance (the last Dark Aeon) [/off-different-topic]

Uhm lolz... I agree that maybe phoenix is a bit of exagerration but simple zombie status? My Auron had built-in zombie in his sword so I didn't even dmg it too much... I just put zombie and he litteraly KILLED HIMSELF... I even had no idea I had auto-life (didn't notice ^^).
Well FFX and FFX-2 are both so easy u don't have to train even a little to finish em both.
I know what am sayin 'cuz the first time i completed FFX I haven't trained even a lil and I had no problem finishing it (I died twice in the whole game, one was "Total Anihilation" attack by guardian that took whole hp oh my team - 1 hit kd so to say, and other was my first aproach to Braskas Aeon as I was taken unprepare when he took his sword, the second time it was a piece of cake. Yuna even didn't had to heal my team all of the time as I prefered Riku as the healer whereas Yuna did a rather decent 9999 dmg from her "Holy" spell).

As for X-2 it is hilarious as I didn't even notice when I was fighting a boss... I just thought it is a slightly stronger regular monster. Seriously I expected more challenge ^^
But well I'm starting XXII soon and I hope it will be harder.

Well, the thing about Yu Yevon is that the Aeons he uses have the stats that YOUR Aeons had at the end of the game. You could increase the power of Yu Yevon's boss fight by doing any of the following:

-Increasing Yuna's stats in any way, which also increases her Aeon's stats.
-Upgrading the Aeons during gameplay, after getting the "Aeon's Soul" item.
-Getting any of the extra Aeons, like Anima or the Magus Sisters (YuYevon!Magus Sisters can be a bitch, since they sometimes revive each other), which increases the number of Aeons in the battle.
-Getting any of the Celestial Weapons fully upgraded gives Aeons "Break Damage Limit" (Depending on the weapon, a certain Aeon will get BDL.)

The more of those fulfilled, the harder the fight will be. Of course, the difficulty is severely decreased because of AutoLife...
My MAL Sig is currently broken...I'm fixing it, I'm fixing it...

As a battle, yeah, slightly disappointing. But it worked for the story, I think. And I loved the final feeling to it. Like "this really is the end", and there's no going back. You can't die due to auto-life, which was cool for the story.

I don't know. I liked it, personally.
