| Alistair and Lucas arrived at the party. There were at least a hundred people already there and Lucas looked around. "Well, Uncle Josh certainly knows how to set up his celebrations." Said Lucas. "Indeed." Said Alistair. |
| Alistair smiled. "And so do you~" Lucas rolled his eyes. "Egh." "Lucas, is that you?" Lucas turned around and saw Joshua coming towards them. ''Hi uncle." Lucas said, somewhat quietly. "It's been I while since I've seen you; how are your parents?" Lucas paused. "Uh, they're good." "Who are your friends?" "My name is Alistair." He introduced himself. "I'm a family friend. And this is Rose, a...friend." |
| "Nice to meet you." Said Joshua. "Lucas, are your parents here? I haven't spoken to my sister in a while." "Sorry, they couldn't make it." Lucas lied. "I don't think my brother can make it either." "Oh, that's too bad." |
| "Anyway, I'm glad you're doing well at least." Said Joshua. "I think Adam is around somewhere. You should say hello." Lucas nodded. "Yeah, maybe I'll do that. See you guys around." He shot Alistair a hard glare before disappearing into the crowd to find his cousin. |
| "So, how do you know the Lucas and Josef's parents, Alistair?" Asked Joshua. "I used to live on their street a while ago." Alistair lied. "I'm looking after the boys while their parents are on a business trip." |
| "Yes, they've been busy lately. I haven't talked to them in at least a couple of years. I haven't spoken to Allison since our last meeting. I'm ashamed to admit Richard and I had a fight and we haven't spoken since." |
| "Well, that's too bad." Said Alistair. "I'm sorry." "Never mind, I shouldn't be bending your ear about this. Would you two like a drink." |
| "Oh, if you're sure." Said Joshua. "Actually, I might go get one. I'll be back soon." Alistair said. He gave Evangeline a wink before heading off somewhere else. |
| "All right. Well I have some people I was going to see so I suppose I'll see you around." Joshua said. He went off somewhere. Alistair came back a few minutes later. He looked no different other than a small spot of red on his shirt collar that was barely noticeable. |
| "Oh, do I?" Alistair looked down at his collar. "Oops. And I tried not to be messy." Not far away at the front door, Josef arrived, waiting for Gwen. |
| "Yeah I guess so." Said AListair. "So, you aren't hungry yet?" ''Hi." Said Josef. "Wow, you look awesome." |
| "Suit yourself." Said AListair. "Thanks." Josef said, stepping inside with Gwen. |
| "True." Alistair said, grinning. Josef looked around and spotted Alistair and Evangeline. "Oh god. Don't look now." He said. Meanwhile Lucas was looking around and spotted Adam not far away. Adam saw him as well and smiled. "Hey." He said. "I didn't know you were coming." "Yeah, hi." Lucas replied. "Been a while." "Yeah, how are you?" "Fine I guess. You?" "Good." Adam said. |
| "Come on. Lucas must be here too." Said Josef. |
| Adam leant against the wall. "So, you want a drink?" He asked. "...We're...under age, Adam.'' His cousin smiled. "Shh, no one has to know.'' He said. "Follow me." He straightened up and started towards his father's study. "Adam..." Lucas started. "Come on, don't be a killjoy." Lucas followed reluctantly. |
| "I dunno. Maybe if we find my uncle, he'll know where he went to." |
| "Come on, let's go look for him." Said Josef. "So, what do you want?" Adam said, taking out several bottles from a cupboard in his dad's study. "Adam, are you sure we should be doing this?" Lucas asked. "Come on, you know my dad. He's got so much booze he'll never notice we drank anything." |
| Josef started walking. Adam handed Lucas a glass of bourbon. "Here ya go." He said. "Uh, thanks." Lucas replied. "No problem." Lucas took a sip from the glass. For a second nothing happened and then he coughed, his throat burning. "Ah, what the?!" "Ha, I knew it." Said Adam. "You know what that is? Vervain. It's said that it's poisonous to...vampires." |
| "I can't see him anywhere." "How would you-" "You were lying." Said Adam. "My dad said that your 'friend' told him your parents were away. Turns out, you and your brother have been missing for over two years." "But how would you figure that mind me a vampire?" |
| "Yeah...." "My dad's told me all about Alistair. You just showed up with him, thinking no one would notice? He wasn't even invited." Lucas frowned. "I'm your cousin, Adam. What would I do to you?" "I don't know, what did you do to Josef?" "I didn't do anything." "Why would I believe that?" Asked Adam. Lucas grabbed Adam's coat by the shoulders. "I didn't do anything to him. He's fine." "Great job proving that there." |
| "Yeah, I know." "You wanna put me down now?" Asked Adam. "Well I dunno. You insulted me." |
| Josef nodded in agreement and kept looking. "Look I get it." Said Adam. "We're family and all that, but you know, you're a monster Lucas. And you know it." "Who are you to judge that?!" Lucas exclaimed. Involuntarily, his eyes turned red and his fangs came out. "Hard evidence right here." Adam retorted. |
| "You make out like I had a choice." Lucas hissed. "I know you didn't. Why would you ever choose it?" Said Adam. "But that's beside the point." |
| "Oh? Then what is the point?" Asked Lucas. "This." Adam took something out from his back pocket, what looked like a wooden stake and jabbed it through Lucas' chest. Lucas let go of him and fell to the ground, his blood dripping onto the floor. |
| "What do you mean? What?" Asked Josef, confused. "You can't continue to hurt people." Said Adam. "I'm sorry." Lucas grabbed the wood, slowly pulling it out and tossing it aside. "Well, if you're serious about it, then you're gonna have to do better than that." |
