well i dono bout people liking my work but heres some tips to people who like drawing or graphics or watever

first off....really good pics can be done with any program...but...what seperates a picture that you look at and go "wow" "good, amazing" etc...and a picture that you look at and go "wow...thats a freaken masterpiece" and you can look at over and over and still love/like/be amazed with....is

effects....filters....and most importantly...blending options and brushes....

yes many people go "can you draw" and if you can and its amazing good for you ill get to that in a sec....but if you cant draw worth shiz...like me XP or can draw but not amazingly...some people go aww you suck or you should try and get better....

alot of people think what makes a good picture is the drawing...and they are half right...yes it makes a good drawing...but it doesnt make a MASTERPIECE....

a lot of people dont know this...they look at something and go sweet..or have a good reaction but show that same picture over and over again...they will become less amazed and eventually go...ehhh fine....

if you can draw well on a paper...good....now...learn how to do that on the computer with a mouse...or touchpad...or even minipulate with scanner....once you can do that youll be set

if you cant draw no worries...either way your best friend when it comes to pictures is the brush and blending options...your regular friends are effects and filters...and a buddy is the pen...

like i was saying i can draw worth shit....BUT...that makes no difference...i like doing graphics and stuff...i find it fun....

the main thing is patience...and if your told to plan out shit...SCREW IT...wipe that from your head...it is a waste of time...like i tell my graphics design teacher....i cant plan something on a piece of paper if im not even sure myself if i can make it into a reality....

IMPROVISATION this is what you need....improvise...through stuff into the picture....take a theme or if you dont have a theme just take a favourite song and listen to it over and over again...its sets the mood....go with the flow...

i myself take a theme and go would this look good with black or white...whichever one i think of i make the backround...i make like 10 layers...i throw brushes into it and browse brushes...different colours...if i dont like it a redo, edit repeat....if i think it doesnt look finished ill through more into it....filter stuff in, put effects....even if you think it looks crapy find ways to make it better....and then add blending options...take different things and just look at the picture and go down all the blending options and choose the best....there is none? fine leave it go to another picture or brush....

we should all have the attitude that when we make a picture look at it and go..."would i put this on something of mine...i.e. ipod backround...psp...computer backround...my own sig...avatar etc...and be able to look at this over and over again and love it everytime..." if the answer if yes for me....then i am finished...if no for me then i either scap it and start over...and find out how to make the answer yes...

now im adhd but i am only patient with games and computers....i know you might be like BUT THAT TAKES TO MUCH TIME....yes it does but i will tell you....all of my graphics i have made took over 1 hour....my sig itself took me 10 hours to make (although 4 were for editing the video in it...so only 6 was used to make the sig) and if you make it so that the answer to the question above is yes....that time spend working on it...will be worth it...i have little time as it is between animation work...physics labs and equations....french work....(graphics design is another course but my teacher knows less than a 4 year old....and im not kidding....literally took him 3 weeks to teach the QUICK SELECT TOOL IN PHOTOSHOP)....hockey...after school activities...driving lessons....between all of this i have barely any time...

so when i have 3-5 hours to spare....i do a graphic....and every one of my designs i never regret taking the time to make it....every time i look at my work i think "...man...i love this"....all of mine i love...

another attitude you should have is even if your making it for someone else which alot of mine are for....make them so that you yourself and pleased....many of mine i made for friends but i made them so that not only they can use but i can enjoy them myself....

if some one goes that sucks....and if you look at it and go well it doesnt really...i mean its kinda good....you did NOT try your hardest....if you tried your hardest your response will be.....you say it sucks but i still like it....

my first couple of graphics were crap...couldnt pass off as a sig...not even a mediocer pic....but i didnt care...i made it...i tried my hardest and i loved it.....the satisfaction you get for making something with the best of your ability no matter how crappy it is, is awsome.....

and even if you dont know were to beggin...thats fine...pick something....an effect or watever...something that you think is cool and search it on the net....just today i was looking at the snowstorm in physics class going...."wow....the effect of wind hitting snow is amazing" i sat starring out at the window i dono how long figuring out different ways to make that into a picture....and its fine if you dont know how just search it on the internet.....whirlwind photoshop effect or something...browse...find something cool? learn it...improve on it...add to it....

my recommendation is Photoshop CS3/4....this program is amazing for minipulation of pictures and stuff...i love it....

also even if your not doing this for a job...even if its just a hobby learn...i myself am probably never getting into this sorta thing....this is my hobby....i am someone who just wants to take a break and edit a pic to make it look cool...or make one that looks cool...i can sit for hours just editing and stuff cause i enjoy it...but im a perfectionist....i take hours to do this....like i said my sig took 6 hours and 4 for the video in it (editing 300 frames and pictures at the same time...slows my comp down alot...especially since its a 10 year old one).....i dont want to get into a job were a customer asks me for a design and i cant make the dead line cause i dont think its perfect....

alot of people might still just give it to them but im discusted with myself unless I think its perfect...

i dont care what others think i want myself to think its perfect....like i said even if its crap...as long as you yourself put in your best effort and make it perfect to the best of your abilities....you will never be disappointed....

P.S...very sorry for my spelling mistakes and grammar...im in a rush cause i gotta clean =P lol already behind....

if anyone needs any help i may not be good graphics but ill help to the best of my abilities ^_^

sorry i wrote so much Y_Y

GIMP is a very simple program to use in banner making. I use GIMP in every banner I make.
All you have to do is to use the brushes, not just just one brush, for your background. Then place a rendered image, then its up to you on how to beautify it more. Pretty easy ^_^
