Anime Club: Week 1

Okay first off, these are the things we ended up watching:
"Who Needs A King" Death Note AMV
"300" Gurren Lagann AMV
Baccano 1
Pani Poni Dash 1
Code Geass 1
Ayakashi 1
Kino's Journey 1
Excel Saga 17 (only half)

Anything you especially liked or disliked? Personally, I was sort of disappointed with Ayakashi but I've heard GREAT things about it so methinks we'll give it at least another episode.

Secondly, I'd like to thank you all for your suggestions and say some stuff that I'm going to end up saying again at next week's anime club: Our goal at anime club is to play stuff that most people haven't already seen. So "main-stream Shounen", even the series I like such as Detective Conan and Shaman King, will be mostly avoided. My appologies to the people who wrote Fullmetal Alchemist, Tsubasa, and Trigun. As for our constant call for yaoi/yuri..... it's always been club policy not to because we always have an equally negative reaction from the other half of the club. But I'll talk to Cassandra and see if we could just play one episode a week. <3 to all you yaoi/yuri fans out there, believe me Cassandra and I are with you. As for "violent stuff?" I can only say lol I think we got that covered.

Ah, mainstream shoujo's gonna be avoided too, yes? I mean, I know you just pointed out shounen by itself given what was written on the suggestions list, but y'know, just making suuure. -coughcough-

Anyway! That was a good meet. Yup yup! Baccano was my favorite, I'd think. Yuuup. And don't forget to consider playing Haré Guu sometiiiime~.

Ayakashi was interesting, as I simultaneously felt feelings of deep hatred for the anime and genuine enjoyment. Definitely intriguing, if nothing else.
Baccano! was awesome, I literally slept through Code Geass but that was more because I was really bloody tired and I'd stolen the cushy chair. And I'm probably in the minority, but Excel Saga was TERRIBLE.
Pani Poni Dash must be watched EVERY SINGLE WEEK.
I'm also starting to regret not watching anime on my own because I haven't seen Trigun yet and I really want to, but you're right, probably most of the people in the club have seen it. Blast it all!

Oh dang Will, Trigun is pretty rad! At first the main dude seems like some dumb womanizing perv, but DON'T LET APPEARANCES DECEEEEIVE YOU. Give it a try on your own! I bet people would want to watch it with you too, so you can have the group effect if you like. But only on your own time! >:O

And I'm cool with watching Pani Poni Dash every other week...>_>But hey, group decision, whatcha gonna do.

Yes yes, mainstream shoujo will of course be avoided. The reason I didn't bring it up was (A) it wasn't on topic and (B) it's overall less common. Even as a shoujo fan I can only think of a handful that are truly "mainstream". Even titles such as Card Captor Sakura and Sailor Moon don't truly count because most people haven't seen them in their unedited form.

And yes, methinks we will play an episode of Jungle Guu sometime... think of a random episode that would be good on it's own. That's what we're trying to do with that comedy slot currently.

Ayakashi is currently the one on our lineup that we're really unsure whether we'll keep playing, but we'll keep it for the first 3 episode arc at least.

Shannon- PPD seemed to recieve a very popular reaction, methinks it'll be a mainstay. Still, feel happy in that it's only 13eps long so most likely we'll only be playing it up till winter break.

Final word on Trigun- Sorry guys. Too many people have seen it and stuffs. Plus, methinks it overlaps genres with Baccano a little too much. Stil have fun watching it on your own.

Bleeeerrrgh, I didn't enjoy Pani Poni Dash...like...at ALL. Buuut, whatcha gonna do?

I friggin LOVED Baccano, though! Major awesome!

Kino's Journey, seemed kiiiind of boring, but also kiiiind of interesting...then again, I wasn't there for the entire episode.

That's my opinion on the shizz that I was there for....

I'm not going to be there for the entire time yet again, cause I still have to decide on another time that I'm going to do Jiu-jitsu, so would you maybe save Pani Poni Dash for later? So that ....I wouldn't have to sit through it? Hee hee....(seriously thoooough)
