In general, schools teach us to be moderate at almost all times, especially when it comes to social interactions, differences of opinion, and beliefs. A moderate attitude is a middle ground that avoids extremism, whether excessive or negligent, and promotes balance, fairness, and the common good. But is that really the case?

If tolerate means allow the existence, occurrence, or practice of (something that one does not necessarily like or agree with) without interference and accept means believe or come to recognize (an opinion, explanation, etc) as valid or correct. Doesn't that sound contradictory/hypocritical in many cases?

Never. Either you believe in something or you don't. Ever heard of someone being "just moderately" against cancer? The very thought of it is ridiculous

One should be moderate if they aren't black-and-white thinkers.

However, it's fine to be extreme as long as it doesn't cause harm.

“When should one be moderate?”
Probably if you’re a moderator for a platform, or if you’re someone who just wants to keep things peaceful (I am also aware that being moderate doesn't always lead to peace though lol).

Is being moderate when it comes to beliefs something that one should try to be though? Hmm, well, it probably isn’t a “should” per se. It kind of depends on what kind of situations we’re talking about. There are many issues/topics in life where there are only two options to choose from, and taking the moderate stance is still essentially just choosing one of the two options in action. I’d say it’s still ideal to be open-minded in hearing out different ideas, scrutinizing and contemplating different beliefs, being honest with one’s beliefs, and making sure the information you get is actually legit.

There are actually many people who accept the way that certain things are, even though they disagree with the ideas associated with those realities/occurrences.

Yep, but it forces a person to hold two conflicting ideas at the same time. The dynamics are best explained through two concepts: cognitive dissonance and radical acceptance.

Hypocrisy when used as a roadblock for change, it casts doubt on credibility, and if we let it, allows its user to go about their business as usual. For those of us in the business of trying to make things better, hypocrisy is par for the course.

It seems tolerance and moderation, although adjacent, are two separate subjects.

Extremism is just magic word used by brainlets to discredit any idea not accepted by the cathedral.

you should do moderation most of the time as they say moderate the moderation itself so not always

i mean the paradox of tolerance already shows that

When it comes to eating healthy, moderation is the key. And I wish that key was made of chocolate! 🤩
