What makes this show better than other romance anime?

recent clover works well made production with unusually good script and screenplay for anime. Pretty much like Bokuyaba, but even better in some ways.

I’d say it’s because the romance is the least interesting part of the show. It’s compelling for sure, but I care way more about Rintaro opening up to and trusting his friends, his mom finally getting to see her kind-hearted kid be accepted for who he is after struggling for so long, Subaru moving past her own demons…the whole cast just has me rooting for them, yknow? The romance is the catalyst of the show, but it’s not what made me a fan.

I have watched around 80% of all romance animes. I think people that rate this one too high are people that like everything explained to them, people that feel lost and even get angry when the narrative isn't full of exposition.

What I personally love about the manga and the anime is how wholesome they are. Kaoruko is lovely, Rintaro is a kind gentleman, Subaru keeps on growing and the boys are the best bros a guy could ever wish for. Keichiro and Kyoko are some of the best, if not the best parents I’ve ever seen in a manga/anime.

It’s better than most romance because:
- No fan service
- No miss understanding bs
- No love triangle
- No ecchi humor
- Healthy communication between the characters
- The main couple is actually a wholesome relationship and not abusive and toxic like other couples in fiction

I havent watched that much romance (abt 20 I think) but from all the ones I watched, this one is the purest one of them all

Manga is one of the 3 or 4 that actually piqued my interest so far (ep 1) that I binged the manga

Each of the characters gets their own time later on, there is fair amount of flashbacks regarding family dynamics (both Kaoruko's and Rintaro's) and new characters that appear, stay for longer than mere 2 or 3 chapters

Someone said, that the show explains the narrative to a point where the viewer doesn't have to guess or think about some half-spoken aspects, which imo is good, because this is romance after all

This type of development only gets better. The manga is fantastic highly recommend

I have never seen other mangas or animes with characters' feelings that show in depth as much as possible. That makes this show outstanding, far from the other romances.

Nothing, it just hype. It has bad dialogue, bad pacing, forced romance, lack of motive & backstory, bad & forced drama with 0 reason, has 0 realism. Really i just can't see how ts can get rating this high.

Despite all of this, each and every episode handles romance better than other seasonal shows dropping out here and there.
