| I personally, like to believe he isn't and that Nero left him alive just to suffer since by that point Angelo is one depressed guy really who can't be saved. I think Nero realized that and even realized there's no undoing what's been done. So there's no reason to redo the same mistake Angelo made by going down the path of revenge. I may not have seen 91 days in like years. But the ending has always stuck with me. But I also think there's a reason why they travel together is because that gives Nero time to finally take everything that has happened in and see a man who let revenge destroy him |

| Angelo dying would’ve given it a much more dramatic and conclusive end. I can’t think of many situations where an open ending was a good choice. Letting the reader interpret what they want is a way of saying you don’t want to receive backlash but also means that despite what the reader decides the outcome was, that will never be certain, which will always leave them wondering. I would’ve much rather seen an ending where Nero killed him or he committed suicide but even just Nero forgiving him and ending the vicious cycle or just leaving him alive to suffer would have been a nice conclusive ending. |
