I want to know if this arc will have peak emotional moments, those are the moments that I enjoy the most in an anime. While S3 was enjoyable, it didn't really have peak emotional moments.

What I call peak emotional moments are those moments in S1 with Rem sacrificing herself to save Subaru, or that awesome flashback and resolution of Wilhelm and Theresia Van Astrea (which I consider to be the best peak emotional moment this anime has provided so far). I also loved in S2 the part where Subaru was trying to save Betty by telling her to choose him near the ending from the burning mansion, that part was amazing too, and emotional. Those are the best peak moments in the whole anime so far.

S3 was enjoyable, but it didn't have what I was looking for, so will S4 have those moments?

Easily the most emotional out of any seasons till now. It has lots of memorable moments like season 1 and 2 did

There are some of the best fights, incredible and impactful villains, a great worldbuilding, and most importantly, one of the best character developments I've ever seen.

If adapted well enough, it will easily become Re:Zero's best season, and arguably one of, if not, the best japanese isekai season ever released

Apparently this is one of the best arcs the series has to offer, so I'm looking very forward to it. From the little that I know happens, yes this will be very emotional

It was a mix of s2 and s3. But, you can expect lots of mysteries and suspense. It's not as fight oriented as s3.

Based on the responses, I'm kinda looking forward to the next season. Another thing that S3 lacked was the awesome soundtrack that S1 and S2 had. The soundtrack in S3 wasn't nearly as peak, sadly.

The emotional moments followed by a good soundtrack are the thing that really gets me in an anime, and I freaking love those moments. S1 and S2 had it, S3 didn't. I hope S4 gets back on track with those things again.

This is the last arc in whole Re:Zero series, which will have the same amount of emotional impact as watching Re:Zero for the first time. Trust me, at least it did for me.
Don't get me wrong, I am HUGE Re:Zero fan till I die, but I think that Tappei just wanted to prolong the series and story unnecessarily long after done writing arc 6.

EDIT: I meant last emotional/impactful arc. Not last arc of whole series (fortunately). :)

I found myself liking the soundtrack, though. It's really underappreciated. The main theme, Reinhard's theme, Arneb's theme, etc. They all had the sense of action and high intensity along with some others representing the characters well as with the final OST playing for Arneb.

@MagicWasTaken20 I will have to listen to the soundtrack of S3 again in my music player, with no distraction, to see if it's good. But in the anime, it didn't feel as good as the previous 2 seasons, it lacked OOMPH or the type of melody that I loved in the previous seasons. I will still listen to it in my music player and see if it's actually good, maybe I was too distracted watching the anime.

Sorry, I spelled it wrong. What I meant, that it's been last truly emotional arc (for me). Currently story is still going in arc 9, with no end in sight!

However, I am certain that this will be the last amimated arc for a long time.

@xZabuzax I second your thoughts. I generally love Re:Zero music, consider many tracks a definite peak of peaks and my all time anime favorites, but they all come from S1 and S2. When it comes to S3, I can name two ("14. Capella Emeralda Lugunica and "17. Speech of Evil") but it's not like I liked them on a comparable level.

Here's the thing though: I believe not using the peak tracks for S3 was a conscious and correct choice. This arc as we know was different in nature, and imo there weren't really many right places to insert things like:

- Rondo of Love and Darkness
- Hymne of Despair and Atonement
- Call of the Witch
- Requiem of Silence
- Night Plot
- Hexentanz
- Deceptive Music Box

One could argue that the deaths in the tower could use some Return by Death / Call of the Witch, but other than that - it's better to limit the frequency of peak music (that we mostly associate with psychological horror and high stakes moments) and save it for when it's most appropriate to maintain its impactful emotional value - and from what I've heard is ahead of us in Season 4, that'd exactly be the right time and place :)
I see. Your only option is to revolutionize the world.

This is probably the best arc in Re:Zero to date, a lot of it because of the emotional impact it has. It’s going to be special for sure

@Phobossus You may have a point there, if this was a conscious choice, then I hope they use peak soundtracks in S4, if that season is going to be emotional, then it's going to need those peak soundtracks that I loved from the previous seasons.

Re:Zero may not be my best anime, but goddamn, the soundtrack is one of the best in the anime industry IMHO. The soundtrack in Re:Zero is in my top 3 favorite anime soundtracks of all time.

@toka7 you're wrong, arc 8 has the most emotional and impactful ending so far.

And arc 9 will be more emotional and impactful than arc 6.

Meh, it all comes down to personal opinion, I guess. But I understand where you come from. It's just frustrating that we don't have any progress on main story and we are already on volume 41(?) on light novels. So it feels like Tappei prolongs the main story on purpose. (for teh moneyz)

Personally, arc 7 & 8 just didn't hit like they should have, because they felt like unnecessary filler arcs. Unlike arc 6, which OP asked.

I haven't read Arc 7 and up but I know the gist of what happens (especially Arc 9 with all the spoilers around lol)

What would you consider the main story to be in Re:Zero?

I'm sure I'm still missing some, but right now I'd consider the main story being the mystery and answer to the question why and how Subaru was summoned.
Who is Satella and what is her goal and why she loves Subaru?
Pandora, what is her goal and why?
What is Witch cult, what is their goal and why?
Royal selection's progress?
Emilia and Subaru's relationship progress?

These were the main points and topics during early Re:Zero storyline.

To put it in the perspective, it's been already 12 years and we still have no answers, nor any noteworthy progress. Yes - Twelve. Years.

Keep in mind, I really really love Re:Zero series as a whole and arc 7 had couple quite enjoyable moments and good storywriting, but it's just frustrating to see how the story tends to deviate away (for now) from these topics mentioned above. I've heard arc 9 might change this soon but...yeah.

@toka7 I see where you're coming from.

My expectation regarding 99% of the bigger mysteries is that everything will be almost exclusively answered in the last arc.

We got (some) royal selection progress in Arc 8 and hopefully Arc 9 will lead to progress between Subaru and Emilia.
From the spoilers I've got of Arc 9, it feels a lot "main story"-ish to me, notably if we include the NO STELLA NO LIFE stuff.
