Meisho Doto was a top horse, but he used to come second to TM Opera O every time. Only at the very end Doto managed to win. Their rivalry was so good, their retirements were held together!

RTTT set up their dynamic, so I thought they'll follow through. Unfortunately in the movie, we don't have much of Doto-Opera rivalry shown except directly in races. I think there's really good material possible out of the meek Doto catching up to the confident Opera and finally surpassing him. What do you think?

Wada Ryuji meets Meisho Dotou

This is a very nice video I found. Here, TM Opera O's jockey meets the aging Dotou. He was greeted rather roughly XD, Dotou is normally as timid as his uma musume counterpart. So many people think the horse actually recognized him.

There's also a very emotional moment at the end, not spoiling!

Nice find, thanks. I only understood half of the dialogue but it was a nice watch anyway.
I think a movie featuring Doto would be cool, or even a miniseason like RTTT (doesn't make much difference lengthwise). But since her era was covered by RTTT i wouldn't get my hopes up.
Recently pulled Doto in the game and really like her character, but in regards of upcoming anime installments i'm happy with everything they throw at me.
Uma Musume is kinda weird, few years back i read the synopsis, thought "wtf is this concept?", gave it a try and been hooked on the franchise ever since with growing enthusiasm.

@tiXhl RTTT, in it's last episode just features Doto saying she wishes to run alongside Opera one day... so I felt a development was coming.

Then again, the movie "New Era" focuses mostly on Pokke while Cafe gets overshadowed. So Ig not everything will be shown.

Yeah, it would have been nice to have english subs for the YT video, but I think everyone will understand what he said at the end to TM Opera's grave...

What made Uma Musume special for me was really the fact that's it's the best way to pay tribute to these racehorses. Hopefully Doto lives longer. It's already sad that his friend Taiki Shuttle passed away...

There used to be a homepage horsejpkeiba.com which had very detailed information on all Japanese racehorses, but sadly it shut down a while ago.
At least there's archive snapshots:

It's definitely worth a visit, even though it isn't being updated anymore.
Do you by chance know of a comparable resource? I've been looking around and haven't found anything yet.

@tiXhl Thanks for the link!

There is still netkeiba (most comparable, even has videos) and jbis, but I didn't find them as user friendly as the one you shared.

After watching S2 reading https://web.archive.org/web/20230604043547/https://horsejpkeiba.com/rice-shower/ really blew my mind and made me realize just how great of a job the series does in commemorating the horses and their achievements.

@tiXhl yeah, rice shower is absolute badass. Even has a badass commercial.

The anime also made her one of the most popular uma musumes without being a protagonist.
