I was okay with it being a lighthearted satire on the covid pandemic, I was reading it for the romance about mouths being seen as erotic with occasional personal drama. But then it just had go get political with
I immediately lost all interest. Why does it have to be this way?

Because that's the story the mangaka chose to go with? Like you said, it's inspired off the covid pandemic. Which, despite commonsense, a ridiculous amount of people made political. So yeah, it pulls a lot from that.

You were surprised that a manga that started in December 2020 and was inspired by the Covid pandemic actually touches on topics/subjects related to the Covid pandemic? Losing people, death, anti-maskers, government control, etc. all feel like obvious things this story would get into. It wasn't exactly a bait and switch
