Would you start a serializing long running series knowing you won't live long enough to see the end of it?

what if you knew, for certain, that you'd don't have enough years to get to see the conclusion? Would you still dive in and enjoy the journey for what it is, or would you avoid it, knowing you might never get closure?

Sure, doesn't matter anyway because I'm gonna lose all memories after death.
No, this isn't my signature.

If it's any good, isn't it better for it to outlast me? Finishing great anime is always a bit of a bummer since I need to find something else that is as good. It's only problematic if the story is stretched to make money longer, like Meitantei Conan. That anime managed to cram like 27 different Christmas episodes into 1996. For some reason they also have smartphones in the 1990s. It would be fine if the story actually progressed, but no, Conan is still trapped in elementary school.
