At the end of UBW, Sakura is happily feeding Shinji apple slices, so it seems like she could have been fine with him instead of needing Shirou.

But also, I hated that part of UBW's ending. We don't learn the extent of Sakura's suffering in that route, but we still get plenty of information showing that Shinji is as big of a scumbag to her as he is with everyone else. And even with the shit we see Shinji do to the other characters (Rin, primarily), it's kinda fucked up that the last we see of him is getting taken care of by Sakura in the hospital. Idk, I think he got off rather light even with what Gilgamesh did to him.
