You can technically watch it before season 1, but without knowing the world or characters, you won't appreciate it as much.

Just watch release order; you won’t appreciate the movie as much if you start with it. S1 -> 0 -> S2.

IMO, you can start with the first 5 episodes of S2, then movie 0 and then S1. You have time till S2 Ep 6 (on august 31) continues from where S1 left off.
Though I agree that S1 could help you familiarize with the world and characters, it wouldn't affect your watching too much if you start how I advised. If you don't understand some things in S2 and movie, they will be explained in S1 and such you don't lose anything๐Ÿ‘

The movie takes place before Season 1 but was released after. You can watch season 1 and then the movie, as it might actually be better for you to understand that world.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 was basically just a short story made by the Author years ago.
It was not even titled Jujutsu Kaisen yet , at that time.

But with the success it had , he continued the story , using those chapters as a Prologue of the Prologue.
It was made as a Prequel Movie for the Anime , to give more impact to it tho.

So you can either watch it before the 1st Season (as it was originally "intented" by the Author) , or after it (as intented by the Anime' staff).

I watched it after the first season
The correct order for me would then be:

1: S1
2: The Movie
3: S2

Actually… if you love a good action-packaged, fantastical mystery…they might be on to something here IF our flashback period from S2 is truly over.

If originally watched this way, it’s gonna require some rewatching or good memory as you get into the plot of S1, but it might make the relationship with characters like Gojo and Geto have more depth and connection and hype later on. Same way that seeing S1 then watching Inumaki, etc haul major you know what I means for release order watchers. If season one came out chronologically in watch order, I think the character relationships would’ve been all the more exciting. Stakes higher. Big questions finally answered about the world that left you hanging and clinging for the next. Etc spiel.

All that said, watch them in release order, haha. But I know what I’m about to binge through now that we’re paused on S2…

IMO, the best way to watch it is season 1, 5 episodes of season 2, the JJK0 movie, then the rest of season 2. you'll get more of an emotional impact/ background for the movie that way, and it also sets up the context for the next arc

you could watch it before season 1 because it’s set prior to it but without knowing the characters before hand, it’s not a enthralling so i’d watch it between season 1 and 2.

If you want to have more of a surprise, and a better flow, I’d say watching Jujutsu Kaisen in this order
Season 1 -> Season 2 episodes 1-5 -> Movie 0 -> rest of season 2

However if you want release date order, to watch it how is currently intended (despite how redundant if feels to watch it this way), then watch 0 in between the two seasons.

It’s true that 0 came out before Jujutsu Kaisen itself, but at that time it was just a one shot that skyrocketed to popularity, which in turn created the series as it is today. If you watch 0 first, you’ll ruin the element of surprise for your own viewing experience, and the main characters won’t even be the main character if you watch that first, instead a secondary main character would be the main character himself.

Watch it after season 2 ep 5 (the most recent episode). You could theoretically watch it whenever you want, but that's where it fits in perfectly. Definitely better than watching it in release order.

True, but it just depends. I don’t think watch orders matter to that extent. Usually release order is ideal. I don’t really know of an anime that is better chronologically rather than release.

yeah I don't think there is any series to watch fully chronologically other than how it was released, but I do think slightly different watch orders can benefit some series like monogatari watching the anime with novel order. As a manga reader I am glad I read it in that order and felt it elevated the experience massively, 0 fit perfectly in after gojos past. 0 was written first and because of the success the author made a series out of it but went with the direction of slightly in the future with yuji then wrote gojos past to contextualize 0.

Since the hidden inventory arc has ended, I'd recommend the chronological order;

1 - Season 2 (Episodes 1-5)
2 - JJK 0 Movie
3 - Season 1
4 - Continue S2

Or the Airing order;

1 - Season 1
2 - JJK 0 Movie
3 - Season 2

Watch in this order imo:-

2) JJK 0
3) S1

Or you can simply go along with the release order if you want.

I recommend you to follow the release order. That way you’ll be able to place all the pieces of the story puzzle. You'll be able to understand which story took place in when. So, don’t sweat it. Watch this movie after watching Season 1 till 24eps. In the end, all is matters is what you want. So, follow your heart. Stay Blazed!

The best watch order, in my opinion, is: S1 > S2 (ep 1~5) > JJK0 > S2 (ep 6~23)

I think you will appreciate 0 more if you watch it after the events that start S2.

Chronologically, the order is: S2 (ep 1~5) > JJK0 > S1 > S2 (ep 6~23) but I don’t really recommend it.

Might be the canonical one but:

Timeline wise: S2 eps 1 - 5; jjk 0; S1; S2 after ep 5

Release order:
- Manga: jjk 0; jjk S1; jjk S2 ep 1 - 5; rest of S2
- Anime: Same but switch 0 with S1

Enjoyability I think:
S1 - 0 - S2 (Anime release order basically)
S1 - S2 (1-5) - 0 - S2 (5<)
