Series Cancellation Discussion

The series was just confirmed to be cancelled as of August 8, 2020: https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2020-09-08/monster-musume-okayado-cancels-12-beast-manga/.163785.

Any thoughts on where the series went wrong or what happened with the author's mental health? As a start, I think Okayado, while a great artist, just went WAY too ambitious with all the girls he was planning to make and he kinda stressed himself out over it and keeping up with Monster Musume as well. A lot of these topics have been covered via Reddit, but any discussion about the actual manga would be great too.

I personally really loved the series; I'm almost caught up, but I know that a lot of people prefer it to MonMusu. It had a lot of great action, ecchi, and was just a fun ride. Probably won't be groundbreaking in isekai manga, but a fun read nonetheless for us monster girl fans. I'd like to hear your thoughts as well.

Mental health is worrisome. Balance is necessary for proper course of storytelling. If rudderless, then there might be unstable elements and directionless narrative.

Does anyone know if any more chapters came out after 34? the news doesn't really say and I don't know if I should just mark it complete or look for chapter 35.

From what it sounds like even though he cancelled 12 beast it might be on hiatus by the publishing company just so he can focus on Monster Musume maybe with luck he'll continue it or he'll move on to another work and leave this unfinished but what ever happens let's support him.

Oh shit I just noticed it got cancelled...

I really enjoyed the series, for the comedy and for the girls, but if the cancellation means the author can feel better, than that's fine...

I will miss this series :'(

I've read until chapter 34, does someone know where the last chapters are?

Oh wow, just found out it got cancelled because my Amazon order for volume 8 got cancelled. I'd have much preferred him to cancel Monster Musume instead of 12Beast. I actually dropped MM after I discovered 12Beast because it's just so boring in comparison. Definitely won't go back to MM now after reading this. :(

I hope he picks 12Beast back up after his mental health recovers but I'm not holding my breath for that.

I'm a little conflicted about this. On one hand 12Beast wasn't all that good, but it had potential, meanwhile at it's current point Monster Musume told and shown everything it had in it and should be brought to conclusion with by the end of the next volume. I'm not sure axing this to focus on Monster Musume was a good deal.
