Basilisk
| After watching episode 3. I found the spider dude to be extremely similar to Naruto's spider dude, while Jimushi's attack is similar to Orochimaru's. then butterflies... and stuff. So I like to ask... Which show ripped off the other? I tried to get behind the release date of Naruto and Basilisk. But the release date are so close =_= I hate to think that Basilisk stole idea off Naruto, which is killing my enjoyment for the show. Can anyone please give me the truth behind this? |

Volitus said: Hello, to answer your question, the novel that Basilisk is based on was written in the late 1950's ("The Kouga Ninja Scrolls"). Of course, that is not to say that Naruto is stealing from Basilisk either. Both of them are pulling inspiration from similar periods/genres of ancient Japanese lore. Having watched both, getting past the initial similarities, the stories are very different. Hope that helps! Don't let the (minor) similarities dissuade you from enjoying Basilisk, as it is a terrific anime series. Good info,was wondering this too. |
