ok so, on the surface it looks like a rather childish movie. at least the animation is a bit....kiddish. i really did enjoy watching this one though. it had some good music to it. the story is profound, and you kinda just wanna watch it till it ends. plus its one of those robots vs human type-o-deal so more or less you're already interested in it.

I think it has some of deeper themes aimed to older watchers.

This isn't a children's anime despite the Astro Boy look of it. It is depressing, actually.

It was a great experience watching this anime, but I wouldn't show this to my 6 years old nephew.

its an epic movie but yea, i dont think id let younger kids watch this one..unless you're ready for a whole lot of explaining~

The art style looks like that because it mimics Tezuka's own style. I wouldn't say it's not for children, but it also deals with mature themes too. Overall, I liked it.
