The premise of Princess No Rondo is appealing.

The lead character is an uptight, sexy-but-inexperienced girl with extraordinary abilities and an independent, proud personality.

This is the same premise as Witch Hunter Robin and Ergo Proxy.

The crucial difference between the two good shows and Princess No Rondo is that good shows have character development. The lead girl discovers things about her powers. Perhaps she discovers that she has surprising limitations to her power. Perhaps she realizes that she's in love. Perhaps she decides her emotions are silly compared to the urgent war against supervillains.

All of these things -- epiphanies, commitments, etc. -- require the episodes to CHANGE. Later episodes must be meaningfully different from earlier ones.

The cringe-inducing problem of Princess no Rondo is that the writers know that there should be character development. They try to get the character to commit to changes. Louise tries to break off old relationships, tries to assert a new style, tries different lifestyle choices --

but the writers are addicted to the initial Louise. The writers like Louise to be horny-but-repressed and perpetually unsatisfied. The writers have to make Louise push away any sexual intimacy, because once she manages to enjoy sex -- even foreplay -- the current writers will lose interest in her.

The current writers only want Louise if she never changes. The previous writers had Louise developing a bit in the 1st season and a lot in the 2nd season -- now the 3rd season is like Groundhog Day where Louise goes in a loop and never really changes.

...Oh yeah, the other reason is that Witch Hunter Robin and Ergo Proxy also had considerably better art, acting, and production values.

"An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who posts controversial and irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community"~wikipedia

So I guess that would make you the troll here....

And me too I guess

'cept ZnT is far more entertaining from a nice fluffy comedic point, while WHR and EP were boring, pretentious snoozefests.

I don't understand the point of saying that, there are hundreds, if not thousands of series better than Zero no Tsukaima, so...

In every age, in every place, the deeds of men remain the same.

An obvious point that no one has mentioned is that anime is steered towards a certain group(s) instead of trying to appease everyone, since if you try you may succeed but you may also lose it all.

I also just noticed but your opinion is biased since Witch hunter is among your favorites

Maybe there's a lack of fluff and fan service in both WHR and EP.

I can see that some people would sleep through WHR and even some episodes of EP.

And as Love Long Sought said, I'm obviously biased towards my favorites, like everyone else. I don't know anyone who isn't biased.

IMHO a troll is someone who posts something he doesn't believe just to get a reaction.

An impolite person is someone who posts an opinion he knows will be despised by everyone on the board. Going on a vegetarian board and bragging about how much steak you eat is impolite, even if you believe it.

However -- many of the other posters on this board have complained about how much the 3rd season has sucked compared to the first two seasons of Zero no Tsukaima.

If you read the episode discussion threads, you'll find a lot of folks saying, "Bad episode, what has happened this season."

Those folks did not appreciate the light, fluffy, cleavage-based humor of the third season.

In fairness, I should have used a different thread title. It was too vague to say "WHR is better."

I should have said, "WHR has better character development." And equally, ZnT:PnR has better cleavage-based humor and testicle-kicking jokes.

It's like saying neither "Yes, Minister" nor "Benny Hill" are good shows. "Yes, Minister" has political jokes and "Benny Hill" has cleavage jokes. Take whichever one you like.

I think the 1st season was good and the 2nd season was very good. I got really angry when the 3rd season dropped off in quality.

I had hopes of ZnT becoming more character-driven, so I compared it to relatively character-driven shows. My point was that if the 3rd season had the virtues of WHR and EP, it would have continued (and improved) the high quality of the 2nd season.

This is like comparing Cardcaptor Sakura to Elfen Lied: They're not even close to similar.

Sure they are. They both have cute loveable leads.
