| UP UP resurrection I did about 20 cards here, all on the same level it had done before but then I downloaded a super package de 1300 styles and helped me a lot if was good I don't know, but it's better than before <_< |

| @mamuru: that looks very nice for your first try^^ but it still looks a bit plain. maybe you could use a different, livelier font and a different color than white and you could put a transparent square or something like that under your text maybe a bit more decorations wouldn't be bad as well, but that depends on taste^^ |

| @mamuru: sorry mamuru i didn't see that you edited your post since i only check this thread if there are new posts but i don't think it looks too crowded, i like a litlle chaotic profile layouts xD @minagi: your cards aren't bad, but some of the pictures in the ice cream le seem to be distorted. if a picture doesn't fit your card size it's better to crop it instead of adjusting the picture, because the outcome looks always strange^^ the rest is good, text is easy to read and design isn't bad either :D |

| @ hatsukoi: your cards are getting better and better :3 especially the card you posted in the cards by rookies thread^^ i would maybe change the font of the name so that it fits better to the "jeans le" oh and when you practice making cards i would always add the text, because the choice of font is an important part of cards^^ @dgirl: 1st design: all ok 2nd design: i'd chose different fonts or did you chose this grainy font on purpose? 3rd design: i would change the color of the "member cards love" to a color which is also in the picture 4th design: all ok 5th design: i don't really like the thick black border around the text so all in all your cards are really good, but maybe you could try using different fonts or textcolors^^ i hope that helps a bit^^ pls don't feel offended i just want to help and i need a lot of practice as well :3 (so if you have a tipp for any of my cards feel free to post it on my profile) |

| hi smokahontas^^ for some reason i can't get the members to help the rookies here and since the club is somehow dead right now i will be the only one answering ^^' (don't worry i will revive the club today or tomorrow :D) first card: did you draw the picture yourself? it's cute^^ but a little tip: when you draw all the pictures yourself you make yourself a lot of work, but that's your decision^^ the size: your card is alittle bit too big (don't worry everyone makes the cards too big at first, i did too) a good size is about 350x200px or smaller background: the pattern of the background is pixelised, you should only use patterns in the right size and not enlarge them ^^ border: the blurry border is a nice idea, but i don't think that it really fits the image you chose, a blurry border is better when you have a soft image (sorry i can't really explain) for the start it's also ok to use just a simple line ( i still use it very often, because i think it looks very beautiful because it is so simple) font: the font is mostly just a matter of taste, but you should get as much fonts as possible (for example from dafont.com) so that you can use many different ones for a d.gray-man picture i would have used a font which looks similiar to the font of the logo of the series font size: the size is also a matter of taste, but normally you write the name of the club smaller, but it's not really important xD font color: black is a hard color and doesn't really fit to the other colors of the image. try to use a color of the picture itself! this color will definitely fit 2nd card: size: it's again a little too big^^ background: the same as above picture: normally it's ok to use the background of the image itself, because when you make a new one it often doesn't really fit to the image. because of that i just don't use pictures which have a background i don't like but of course you can do it when you prefer a selfmade background. in this case you should clean the borders of the image, because those white pixels around it don't look very nice. when i cut out an image i clean the borders with the eraser tool fontcolor: white isn't a bad choice, but maybe it would look better when you use the slightly gray white from her shirt 3rd image: the image of izaya is a little bit distorted, try to avoid this at all costs! a distorted image looks always strange (but is also a typical mistake of rookies, so don't worry^^) when you resize an image make sure that the original proportions are kept i hope i could help you somehow^^ and don't let yourself be discouraged, we all went through this and we all made the same mistakes :3 |

| i started with paint.NET which is a very good program for rookies, because it's easier to use than photoshop (and it is free, just google it xD) but now i'm using photoshop which tools to use is difficult to tell, because i don't know what you want to do with them xD maybe you can tell me what you plan to do and i can try to tell you how you make it? or you can show cards from other card makers and ask how they made certain effects :3 |

| sorry that i didn't answer your question but since i'm in turkey right now i don't use the pc very often^^ this card is reallyy better :D the size is good, the colors fit, the font isn't bad^^ maybe it's just my imagination, but is the text a little blurry? don't know i think you're on the right way :3 try to do different designs and with the time you will find your style^^ when i started card making i copied certain aspects of cards from other card makers to learn and to get new ideas but if it's a typical aspect of the card maker you should ask him if you're allowed to use it^^ |

| you mean a profile layout? hmm first tip: visit many profiles and look for ideas (but only ideas! the people normally don't like if their complete profile is copied xD) and then you should think about a theme and what you want to put on it (for example: favourite anime/chars etc) if you want you can make a plan but i normally just start and see what happens xD then you should search for a bunch of pictures and then.. just start xD oh and the size doesn't really matter i think.. well mine are always too big, but since i make them for myself and not for others i don't really care xD i'm working on a new one and it will be about 4300px long (my current was 3000px) |

| @smokahontas96: what are image maps? @KawaiiChan798: nice cards^^ especially the first two @cliveshiki: to change a background you have to remove the old one. you remove it either with the eraser or with the wand-tool (don't know how it's called in english) until only the figure is left. then you can put the figure on any background you want^^ @xTenshiAi: i actually like it as it is O.o good work. you could make the card maybe a little smaller make a few more cards :D maybe you have a natural talent xD |

| Hello! so it's time for a bit of comming out - here are my first ever made cards :) my little abominations :3 and I thought making profile pic is hard based on Tamayura anime and without any theme or edition I would love to hear some feedback :) ah there are some parts that I don't know what to do - like between name tag and that quote - for now there are some birds, tones and whatnot... but here I have no idea and without it looks just empty :( |
| Hi I just joined this club because I'm a total rookie at all this and have finally figured out a tiny bit on how to make a card xD So I guess I should give some information along with the cards. For starters I use Photoshop Elements 7(which I hate, raising money to get a better version) I'm terrible with figuring out sizes and end up improvising. So this is the best I can do for now. My method of making this was all over the place because I also have a Photoshop app on my IPod so I edited a pic on there and then continued with text and extra details on the computer. I have some general idea now how to make borders which is with the ellipse or shape tools but still complete novice here xD Anyways here are my first 3 cards :3 Thanks in advance for any advice ;D |

@Azunyan55: Your cards are really big. Lol I had the same problem before when I first started making cards. Good sizes would be: 400x200 pixels 400x300 pixels 300x200 pixels (these are basically rough estimates, you can do more exact numbers like 310x310 and whatnot) I do all of my cards 300x225 pixels You should experiment with different sizes until you find one that you like and try to keep your cards the same size (per LE). You can also look at other card makers' cards and check their sizes. Basically you can do all sorts of sizes (you want to keep in the 100-400 range though). What you should do is find the size you want when making a card and then have all your other cards match the size you're comfortable with. Your card sizes can vary for different LEs. Hope this helps ^^ Your cards are pretty good for you first time :) Mine were terrible XD Edit: I forgot to mention that these sizes are for Horizontal cards and not vertical ones. For vertical cards I do 300x446 pixels (which is pretty big, I should make 'em smaller XD) You can also do 210x310 pixels |
