Long time since the last time, eh? But no time like the present for more obscure anime!

The anime this month is Scramble Wars, a mash of AIC and Artmic's most memorable characters [mainly Gall Force and Bubblegum Crisis] participating in a desert race with heaps of riches on the line. The obvious influence here would be Cannonball Run [or It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World] and is far more concerned with lampooning its own characters and present loads of physical comedy than any sort of compelling narrative. But that's okay, because the parodies and references are hilarious, especially if you've seen Gall Force and Bubblegum Crisis, and the tone just so much fun. It was released on VHS [along with mockumentary Ten Little Gall Force] in America about a hundred years ago, so good look finding that. There's a decent fansub floating around, so try that instead.
