Lovely Complex & Kimi ni todoke are my hetero anime favs. The rest are shounen ai. ;D For instance, the not so well known Ryokunohara Meikyuu.

I've seen the Lovely Complex, was quite funny but I couldn't sense much romanticism in it. I think Toradora is better.

Taking into consideration only the romantic side in the order I would say

1 Voices of a Distant Star (OVA of only 25 minutes, absolutely recommended to anyone who has not seen it yet)
2 5 Centimeters per Second
3 EF - a tale of memories
4 Clannad AF & Angel Beats! (this one more than the average viewer can understand, including fans of the series, since almost no one has understood the story).
5 EF - a tales of melodies

Something better? It was made between breaks at work with a mini computer (a PowerMac G4), reaching and exceeding the levels of the anime produced by major studios, selling 60,000 copies in a few months in which 2 common objects in everyday life become the most beautiful romantic metaphor that Japanese animation can count among its productions ... how could it be better?

Realize that Mangazoo already decided to produce it only after seeing the illustrations for the backgrounds prepared by Makoto for his OVA, screaming to the masterpiece, giving him enough money to left his job and focus strictly on Voices of a Distant Star, and the result was the birth of Miyazaki's heir, while the company has made so much money to grow and change name (ComixWave) and also in a partial activity, as previously operating mainly online.

Voices of a Distant Star is gold, you can not treat poor.

I was expecting something better because it's one of your favorites, not because of the creators' skills. I still enjoyed it though, but you can't expect others to love it as well.

It isn't my favorite (Clannad is my favorite) but if I have to say which is more romantic the answer could be just the one I gave...you talk like that because you wasn't able to appreciate Hoshi no Koe (/5 Centimeters per Second that is the same story with another setting), trust me :)

Telling me that I wasn't able to appreciate Hoshi no Koe is simply harassment. I just thought the 3D effects were a bit lame and the story was too short. But why wouldn't I appreciate it?? I have seen 5 CM per second, and I liked it a little more than Hoshi no Koe, since there is a better build-up of character and story in there.
Now stop arguing with how I feel about something before I will make you believe the color yellow is actually blue.

Harassment? The only harassment here is your lack of competence XD

Look people! Fans are going to like what they like okay. People watch/read stuff for many, many different reasons. For example, I usually enjoy something that has a good story by my standards and no one else's, and also that has characters that I personally like. I don't care what anyone else thinks about my favorites or series I have dropped!!

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Calling someone incompetent is very disrespectful. Especially when it is said over having an opinion different than yours. It is basically name calling and will not be tolerated in this club. Arguing is fine, but do not cross the line.

I thought the same thing, and the first season is also a bit harem like. But after watching the second season I can only say it is the best anime EVER.

I luv Kimagure Orange road's romance - some of it was so sad, but the end was satisfactory (in the film)

I really like Skip Beat. The anime is really cute but has an unsatisfying ending. However, you'll prob want to go straight to the manga, and finally around chpt 185 - the romance has the sweetest conclusion. It is still ongoing though.
