Well, these aren't dramas, they're movies/Specials, but........ Yuuki, starring Kamenashi Kazuya is sad. There's also Niini no koto wo Wasurenaide, starring Nishikido Ryo. These have a similar premise to 1 Litre of Tears....although, I wouldn't go as far to say that they are "sadder" than 1 Litre....

There's also a drama called Last Friends, but it's not so much sad, just feeling sorry for the some of the characters and what they have to go through (which I guess can qualify as sad).

I haven't seen Koizora and 1 litre of tears etc yet, so I can't say if these are more sad, but it's some dramas that made me cry. (no order)

TROUBLEMAN (it's a weird comedy, but I cried because the story was so sad *doesn't make sense unless you see all of it*)

Shounen wa tori ni natte SP (It's a drama special, beautiful but tragic family story)

My Girl *Jdrama* (sweet and emotional family story, some episodes made me cry.)

Long Love Letter (It's so sad... but it's also one of the most scary drama I've seen.)

Byakkotai SP (historical drama special with many sad elements: war, separation, relationship to mother etc)

Budo no Ki SP (aka Grapevine) (I didn't believe everyone that said this one was incredibly sad when I first heard about it, but when I watched it the tears wouldn't stop!)

Dramawiki and asianmediawiki doesn't have any information about Budo no Ki, but if you're interested just google the name and newshfan and you should be able to find it.

I really try to avoid sad dramas, but i've still managed to watch a few.

Koukou Kyoushi 2003. so sad. SO sad. i only watched it because fujiki was in it but i really liked it, but so sad.

and like others have mentioned last friends is pretty sad. no real serious tragedy though, just depressing.

Shining inheritance is really long, but still gets pretty angsty/depressing. there is romantic comedy in it. but in the beggining, and the end, i was so frustrated i almost stopped watching. the middle is pretty happy so idk.

i feel like aly would have a few dramas to rec.......hahah

Koizora [drama]
i was so depressed after watchin it....i was mopin arnd for a week....
but for some reason the movie wasnt as sad as the drama.....

Defiantly, '1 Litre Of Tears'! I barley ever cry when it comes to show and such, but I cried in every episode of this(including the special), except for the very first two episodes! It's such a sad drama, but it's reality. ; 3 ;

I haven't seen the drama of this, but I have seen 'Koizora' The movie, and I cried for like ten minutes straight during that movie! I was even crying during the credits, until the end! x') It was so sad!!!

The "Koizora" drama sucks. The only thing worth watching is the movie.

i watched this one drama called until the battery runs out years ago...it was the most depressing, downer drama i've ever seen. it's about a nurse who starts working at a children's hospital where all the kids there have a terminal illness. i couldn't make it past episode 3. it killed me, but you may enjoy it if you're looking for raw sadness.

1 Litre of Tears, hands down. No other drama has made me cry so much. I didn't cry during every single episode or when she died, like some people, but I did cry during those scenes where the impact of Aya's sickness was evident. For example, the scene that sticks in my brain from the whole drama is from around episode 8 or so, when
Goodness, my tears just would not stop flowing during that scene.

The most saddest, but at the same time beautiful story ever told, for me, in any drama, was in Tonbi, starring Uchino Maasaki.

Then, there are the
-Long Love Letter;
-Two Weeks;
-Nine: Nine Times Time Travel;
-JIN / JIN2
