Would Love Hina be considered the start of the Harem genre's decline in quality?

Since it popularized lots of harem cliches and tropes that made them go stale and also is infamous for the "accidental pervert" and "violent tsundere" tropes, would this be the start of Harem declining or no?

Harem never declined. The quality always varied from beginning to current era. Of course harem is made for men so I think women will have a much harsher attitude on it like how males do not watch yaoi.

No? Why would it? The genre hasn’t gotten any worse for me

I haven't watched enough old-gen harem to confirm that. Though, some of the new-gen harem are extremely generic.

I can't think of a single harem show that could be considered a good show. Recommending an harem always comes with a warning.

New harems tends to be too clishe with too much nudity. Some of them arent bad. Old was at least had more humor and randomness, thats why i like older anime, they always suprise u with something.

No. Even tho Tenchi Muyo is the grandfather of all harem anime, love hina is what catapulted the harem genre into the forefront

The real decline started late 2020/early 2021. Ever since then the Japanese have caved into peer pressure in regards to ecchi content that was basically in tandem with the genre. From both external forces like the West, but also even internal forces within their own country.

I want to say maybe one day we can get another anime that's on the same level as To Love Ru, but I'm 99% certain those times are long gone, and that sucks to say. But hey, we still get some good harem anime from time to time, so the genre is not completely dead yet ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The only ‘good’ harem is 100 girlfriends. Imo
