Engaging anime's with little to no "fanservice" or awkward cliche's

Sorry the title is so broad, but I am broadly interested to see what is out and what genre's hold people's attention. Irregardless of genre I think we quality can generate appreciation even if it's not our "cup of tea".

But/also I should clarify what I mean by fanservice, because that could have several interpretations. I'm mostly referring to the (this is up to opinion, but in my point of view) awkward (especially if watching with family or friends) tendency for some anime to have exposing camera angles, or to wax long-winded (have a long scene) about a female characters breasts, or a character falls in such a way as to be accidentally groping a woman, etc...

basically, a favorite of yours, preferably within the last 4-5 years because that's about how long I've been out of the loop, but also if you have some really good suggestions from periods before that, feel encouraged to write them, just in case I haven't heard of it yet!
