After watching 6 episodes i am confident to say why this anime has a terrible adaptation, not just the art, that could still be a 5/6 to me, but the style and the direction that the anime has.

the 1st season was the reason as to read the manga, and i was left astonished at how the manga was, for comparison
[spoler][img]https://cdn.myanimelist.net/s/common/bbcode/2d4224c2-ab83-48f1-85bd-a602cb956ad4?s=a61b0c12adb65a32d61a2b79df5f6f94[/spoiler] this panel shows Koumei in a really good artstyle, but the anime take out so much of the beauty of the character, and isnt the only case. People complained about the difference between S1 and S2, fair enough, but that's bcs in S1 atleast the character unique one from another, like in Ep 5 i was thinking that the ninja Hanzou was for a second Koumei.
the pacing is also a problem, some scene arent how they should be, some are too fast, and others are too slow and the music makes it even worse, many time is used in a serious scene and makes it look like a joke.
Only thing I like is how they animated the anime, even tough its bad i saw some scenes that worked.

and i hate how they made Organ(the style) for comparison

and lets not forget about the cut content, the actual fun of the manga.
And you? what made you hate the anime, or what made you like it?

sorry in case of bad english.

This thread, in short:

Most but probably all characters' character designs are a flop.
We know all too well of that fact, since episode one.

Then, the pacing and the storytelling.
Just by watching the first and second episode, we all know too well that this sequel won't be the beloved series we knew in the past.

As you've said, the animation are barely decent. There are some things that was good enough, about 5%,
but most of it are hardly decent to watch because of the inconsistencies in how they adapted the story.
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

I liked S1 more than S2 currently. I got accustomed to S2's art direction but would prefer S1's since it's gotten too colorful in my eyes if that makes sense. It makes the characters look very samey versus in S1 where characters looked more unique. S2 had three episodes of recap that I think took a lot of screen time which I would have wanted spent for exposition of the current arc we're on since there's a feeling that there should've been more screen time for certain scenes. It did help since I didn't rewatch S1 again but I just needed just one brief ep not three if they wanted to recap for S1 since its been so long. I remember for the most part what happened in S1. I'm not a fan of Tron's outfit change I thought the one from S1 was more unique and better.

We're currently jumping from nothing happening from ep 3 to a lot happening where it gets hard to keep up all the set ups there going for at a fast pace. That I sometimes forget what happened in some episodes from pacing being quick or the scene not being that memorable coming back to it every week. I rated S1 7/10 with it having potential to be a great isekai and this season isn't really doing as great as S1 has. I'll finish it but it sucks It's been rather okayish but not even living up to the standard that S1 set for itself even if the art style you can say is more detailed than that of S1's.

This season is reminding me the same treatment of Devil is a part timer! S2. Where it doesn't have the same vibe that made it's S1 so good.

Honestly I don't know what you (and others) expected from Gekkou studio, for the few things they did I would only save Temple with a passing grade.
That said, the story and its pacing in the first season left me confused, as it is with the second season, so for me it makes no difference as well as with the graphics and animation. So I would say that people were wrong to have who knows what expectations, looking at what a studio has done in the past can tell a lot.

I get that they’re trying to match the art style with the Manga, but it’s not working. The chibi-style faces Maou makes don’t fit his personality at all, especially compared to how he was in Season 1.

Despite this, there are a few moments in Season 2 that are okay. It's not terrible, but it’s not great either.

I won’t drop it, though. I’m still planning to watch all 12 episodes, hoping the show might improve or surprise me as it goes on, but my expectations are very low.

Same, even though it’s going downhill quickly, I’ll stick with it ‘til the bitter end to see how it finishes. Good luck, everyone.

I never expected myself to watch such trash trash for that many episodes. From s1 it was already clear that they really don't like clean animations and fights, barely being good at "portraits". Yet I do stick around and it's honestly enjoyable hilarious. Maybe it's competing with Blue Lock s2, I don't know. But I would watch a s3 even if it's just some dude making photographs of the source material and posts it online. And I think that's the direction we are heading here.

Honestly, those faces match his personality way more, since he's scared of so much and reacts very emotional, though he doesn't want to show it since he's too socially awkward and for now nearly had no real character development.
It could be awesome comic relief if the other parts were not that terribly written or animated like picture shows. Since those things can counter each other and a badly animated show can still be funny with good dialogue and so on.

I totally agree. Good dialogue, character development, and plot progression are what keep you invested in a story and its characters. But on the flip side, even the most beautifully animated shows, with tons of frames in every scene, can feel like a chore to sit through if the story itself falls flat.
