The society that should supposedly cheer them on, instead looks down on their activity as they have learnt to live under the new rule, collaborate with the enemy and don't want change. Should especially be more character driven than MoO - exploring everyone's motives on both sides of the conflict. Can be supernatural. Preferably serious and melancholic. Kdrama/Jdrama recs are also welcome! |

I’m sorry, Melody of Oblivion is one of a kind.
Tangentially similar melancholic moods you could try c: the money of soul and possibility has some similar themes about the morality of fighting with/working within the system.
It’s been a bit since I watched Armor hunter mellowlink, but I seem to recall that also following a pattern of a protagonist following his principles to continue fighting against the establishment that betrayed him long past the end of the war.
