The whole idea of this one race being hated because of the kind of magic they can do--in a world where magic is commonplace--is one of the dumbest anime/fantasy tropes. Oh no, your race can control monsters and those monsters killed a bunch of people! Oh wait, my race can learn to blast people with fireballs and lightning and also kill a bunch of people. Never mind. If they were really all that dangerous how did they ever get to the point where they're all in some dungeon somewhere? It's more likely people would have tried to intermarry with them to try and gain some of that power for themselves. If it were that easy, though painful, to gain poison resistance I would think every slum dweller in that world would be so poison resistant that alcohol would have effect on them.

@HOOfan_1 Yeah the irony or hypocrisy going over everyones head apparently. Also why don't they immediately turn on their masters? 'Here's a monster now go tell it to kill those people. Monster eat this guy.' Not seeing how they control them once they have a monster.

Episode 7 Noor is up against Zadu, known as the Deadman, and no matter how many blades Noor breaks with his parrying, Zadu always has spare blades on hand. Zadu was hired to kill Rolo, but has to get through Noor first. While Noor can parry anything, not so much when there are hundreds of those silver cross blades that Zadu throws at him. But he gets Ines to help out with her shield spell, and Zadu tries to sneak a hit on her only for Noor to parry that before taking his leave. But in the meantime, the Dragon of Calamity has attacked the kingdom and the party decides to turn back seeing that Noor can't go to Mithras all while the kingdom needs them. Zadu is quite the evil guy there and Noor shows that there's one thing he can't exactly parry as when there are lots of those things coming to him he can't block them all.

They really are trying to do a reverse OPM where everyone knows the MC is strong while he thinks he's weak. But the writing and directing simply isn't good enough to make it work. Veldora incoming.

Oof trying to make Zadu a badass with the piercings, lip licking and eye cover? (Are they ripping off Gojo with the white hair what other reason did he have his eyes covered?) Failed spectactularly. Why is he evil? Just because the story needs him to be,same reason he had a dozen "indestructable" knives, why would he ever need more than one if they never break? because the story knew they would break of course. 9_9 And of course a guy who can single handidly wipe out an army and take whatever he wants does it for money, geez this is written by a 12 year old. Alao can he only parry if he yells out "parry!" every damn time? Well I guess we finally know why he has so many scars, any thing he misses he just uses his body to block it.

Remember in the first episode when he "parried" those thousand wooden swords by creating a whirlwind? I guess whoever wrote this did too because for some reason when he has the opportunity to use that ability--one which is uniquely suited for a situation exactly like this--he doesn't use it. I guess we're supposed to think he's so dumb that he only learned to do that as a party trick.

Episode 8 Just like that, Noor has added Dragon Slayer to his list of accomplishments. He got a boost from Lynne once again with her wind blast, using it to get back to the capital as quickly as possible to parry the elder dragon's attack on the king. And after that he made quick work of that beast. There were also goblins, but they weren't nearly as threatening. Once again, Noor is being humble about all this.

Episode 9 While Noor defeated the dragon, it still lives, and then Rolo sends it away, but the dragon is killed by the invading imperial army instead with its leader using a powerful magical cannon to slay it. And now, he's about to use it to kill the princess and destroy the kingdom, but Noor parries the big blast, while Ines uses her shield. Once again, Noor is blown away by Lynne's wind magic and uses the momentum from the spell to launch an AoE parry on the army that sends their swords and shields flying by the impact with the soldiers taken down by falling debris, and then the commander retreats after seeing the sword he's up against. That was a rather ridiculous battle there, but it goes to show that Noor can defeat anything just by parrying it.

Episode 10 Noor managed to defeat an army and scare the commander away, but he's at his limit and as strong as he is, it's just one man against an army. But reinforcements come as Gilbert and Alma save Noor when he was a sitting duck about to get taken out by the army's remnants. And then more of the king's knights and the instructors Noor learned under during his brief time learning under them help out as well. And thanks to Rolo's talent, he tamed a dragon, and that makes for some handy transportation for this party. Not to mention, it gives the party the advantage of higher ground as Ines creates an escape route with her sword. Noor is gaining more and more allies, and with all these seasoned warriors, the emperor won't stand a chance against them.

Noor's cluelessness is beginning lose it's charm and starting to feel like outright dumbness. He might've grown up in the mountains but surely he knows that bad people exists? Those machines that were attacking them came from where the "Flashy Old Man" was at, and he mistakes him as just a weird stranger? He can only be too oblivious for a gimmick/running gag to work. I'm assuming there's some kind of backstory about his father since the Sinister 6 seem to excessively admire him, not for his recent actions but simply because of his presence and existence. It was fun while it lasted. But I do still appreciate some of the comedic jabs and timings working quite well on me. Also... Ines is very beautiful. (Not sure why it took me a while to notice that.)

Dumb question but was anyone else getting similar vibes from this show as that Last Dungeon Boonies one from a couple years back? I can’t help but compare Noor to Lloyd with the whole “unbelievably strong but clueless about true nature of strength” shtick. Granted that show was enjoyable but I’m not surprised it didn’t get a season two; enjoyable but not spectacular As for this show, there’s still a chance and I do hope Noor does realize his true strength and grows a bit before the season ends; gotta agree with previous comments that the shtick was funny for a while, but it gets stale at a point; especially since, if I’m being honest, chances of a season 2 on this one are slim so I’m hoping to at least get a satisfying ending to the story we did get

Episode 11 The emperor has lost his mind after being throughly humiliated by Noor, and now he's resorting to desperate measures, using a WMD to slay a dragon at point blank even at the risk of severe collateral damage. Of course, Noor parries that and it causes the cannon shot to fall like meteors. He ends up falling into the throne room and gets attacked by the emperor's knights, who are throwing bombs and stuff at him, but he protects the emperor, and then they stop fighting once Lynne and the knights arrive. The knights led by Randeus surrender and they agree to become allies with Clays as atonement for the empire's crimes. Then it's back to Clays as Rolo is now a citizen of the kingdom at Noor's request seeing that his ability to tame the dragon made all the difference, and now having been adopted he can't help but to cry when he sees that he's finally eating a normal meal. Once again, Noor's actions totally run counter to what he says, but he saves the day. One more episode left to go.

I didn't care for the look of that city. It looked more technological--steampunk like really, just without the steam--rather than magical. For me the jokes in this have gotten better. Seeing him throw the king around was actually kind of funny. A much better joke than the whole thing with him thinking strong monsters are weak ones. If the director of this had set up the jokes from the beginning, instead of just throwing them out there with no support to go splat like eggs on asphalt, this series might have had a chance to be a decent comedy. It seems like the only way he would find out that he's strong is if the guy at the guild realized he was and told him. Of course the show will probably pull something stupid and unfunny in order to prevent that from happening.

To quote an old adage 'Dying is easy, comedy is hard'. His feeling bad about damaging their city is just completely stupid. They shot at and tried to kill the dragon, him and all of his companions yet he just conveniently forgets that fact. Why? That's not just silly ignorance it's a mental defiency. That "Goku cranked up to 11" analogy is apt. However the difference is Goku came off as sincere and recognized evil and evil intent. This is so forced, it's painful to watch. I am actually starting to hate this show. Oh I am a poor nobody but the king wants to give me stuff? No, no I need to keep cleabing shit out if gutters making minimum wage...why? Why would that ever be anyone's mentality? Something I did earned me the ability to make my life easier? No I am a pure good person, they don't make their lives easier... uh no. | @MenchiK1 Yes, that was me. I suppose that’s fair, the humor in this one didn’t really land as well compared to Boonies, even though the parallels in set up are pretty evident. I don’t know- in this particular case, I feel like because of the way it’s executed, I feel that Noor should’ve had some level of character development by now; but instead it’s still all “not realizing the true level of his strength” unlike in Boonies where to an extent the prolly around Lloyd did reassure him how strong he really was… it feels like most everyone just “goes along” with Noor’s shtick so it feels unsatisfying, resolution wise. | Episode 12 (Finale) To end this show, the kingdom begins its rebuild, and after seeing the guild still intact, albeit with the sign knocked off in the chaos, Noor looks back on all the times he trained to become one, but couldn't master a single thing. His swordsman training didn't go well as despite showing his guts, the instructor was worried that he could get killed if he went on. He could have made it as an archer if not for the fact that he was too strong that he breaks all the bows trying to use it. He trained to be a magic, but his lack of mana pretty much made it impossible for him to make it, though the fact that he could accomplish dual casting even if at a low level is quite the feat. Then he tried healing magic to see if he could make it as a healer, but that didn't go well, though managing to learn low heal without a blessing is an accomplishment. So after three months of failure at every job, Noor left to focus on parrying, and the six instructors decided that they needed to find Noor. So back in the present, Noor is hard at work, and gets some food from Lynne, while parrying a falling bell tower to protect a civilian. And so, it ends with what is largely a flashback episode to explain why things didn't work out with Noor's training as while he didn't make it, it helped Noor become something else in the end. Final Thoughts The show started off pretty well and despite being another one of those generic fantasies featuring an OP MC, this one was pretty entertaining. The characters are interesting and the production values are pretty solid for a show like this, all while the story concept of using parrying as the only thing the MC is superb at was an interesting idea. But as the show progressed, things became repetitive, all while the MC's humbleness and lack of self-awareness starts to become overly annoying, all while the story doesn't really accomplish a whole lot when all is said and done. But even so, it was enjoyable for the story concept and solid character development that went on even if it didn't come out right in the end. Grade: C+ (7/10) |

So....that flashback basically showed he was extremely good at learning things, had monstrous strength, and extreme accuracy. "Oh, but he can't use a sword in a manner to cut things, and he's too strong to even hold a bow. " Maybe one of these illustrious and genius 6 people should have tried to get him to use a club, or a mace or something, or maybe he could throw spears.... I get that they were kind of trying to go for the "he's an airhead who would make Goku blush", but I didn't really find any of the beats all that funny, just stupid. It wasn't horribly boring though, so I will be generous with a 6/10

You'd think if these guys thought so highly of Noor they would have checked in on him while he was at the other schools. And not one of them bothered to tell him that he had incredible potential and that they would find a use for him if being an adventurer didn't work out for him. These guys may be strong but they are horrible teachers. The spy guy, if he's so great at it, should have been able to track him down after he left the city. Or found out when he returned through some kind of information network. I guess none of them ever bothered to ask him where he was from either since they didn't know where he went. 5/10... maybe.

Among all the instructors that sent Noor away, it's the magician that I'm most baffled about; I feel like if someone managed to learn in a few weeks something that took you 50 years to learn, you'd already know that that is someone has something special in them, no matter how non-existent it might seem. But after being so surprised with Noor's capability to use the skill that- again- TOOK 50 YEARS for him to learn, the magician still told Noor that it was not the path for him. They should be thankful there wasn't a villain that found Noor during those times or they might have already raised the scariest and strongest villain of them all just by being so encouraging and supportive to him, and being patient enough to at least train him for... I don't know... like... a 'YEAR', maybe? -------------------------- I once again judged a book by its cover and got proven wrong for doing so. Not to say that it's a very good show- it's "Okay" at best- but, it's was much more watchable than I thought it ever would be during those 8 weeks that I've been ignoring it. For me, it was the humorous approach to the misunderstanding gimmick that gave it uniqueness and a tiny bit of edge compared to other sub-par shows. Also, the director seem to have the capability to make a low-budget animation look presentable by doing some scenes with 'extra' touches on it. The sequel is not something I'm excited for, but I'd likely watch it when it comes. 6/10. Had some fun bits and little jabs, but definitely not something to rush spending your 6hrs into.

Well apparently he got his stupidity from his mentors. He told every one of them he got a special exemption, recomendation from the guild but not one (including the spy) thought to go there to find him. Geniuses. Also none of them would hack it as an NFL coach (a good one anyway) where you maximize your off and def by utilizing your players skills instead of trying to make them do something they aren't good at and just shoehorn them into a scheme. Noor was highly skilled but because he didn't fit some stupid idea of what he should be his instrucrors discouraged him and sent him away. Faikures every one of them. This episode was just the entire season in a microcosm controving some nonsensical reason for why someone so powerful and skilled could be so overlooked by others and unaware of his own skills. None of it seemed the least bit satisfying as an explanation making this show just a nonstop eyeroll. Especially EVERYONE choosing to keep him ignorant every time they realized he was misunderstanding something. Such a waste of potential, a skilled writer could have turned this either into a great comedy or a much more fun show. Oh and the female and other supporting characters were all even lamer and poorly developed. The princess wasn't even cute, would a well fed princess really be that small and malnourished looking?
