| That was the first non-anime show which popped into my mind too as to its closest point of comparison. It's not a ripoff though, if anyone got that impression, since it's based on a manga from 1978. If anything, it may have inspired cartoons like Time Squad back in the early 2000s (but maybe not as it's not exactly a radical foreign concept - I don't think there's proof of it either way). |
