i find it hard to believe sometimes that this is the same guy who wrote prison school lmao

I didn't believe it at first either. But when you look closely you see a lot of similar techniques in their art. Distorted fisheye lens, gritty textures, heavy shading, highly-detailed bodies, intense expressions, etc. In MatDB it conveys a sense of harrowing intensity and fear while in Prison School it's used to provide moments of tension to be broken by levity, as well as ironically contrasting the ridiculous events going on. I appreciate them both more for having read the other.
