| I guess this is the MAL entry for the English-language pilot that was made to (unsuccessfully) promote a similar treatment of the whole series. Aside from shamelessly ripping-off popular sci-fi with the Star Trek-like music and calling the enemies "the dark side", it's a decent pulp adventure show which is exactly what the original version was, albeit with a different flavor. I'm surprised at how much new animation is in here (although it's mostly in the beginning and the end gets a little disjointed because of that). It'd be expensive if they wanted to do something like that for the whole series which might be why it never happened. |
