I think this manga is going to blow up in community in some years. The only flaw I can think of is its art so far but I'm sure Uoto will improve by time.

I doubt it's gonna blow up in some years considering how it's going to end soon.

The exact thought was: "Oh crap, this is good".
At first I thought that this story would be about Rafał becoming a scholar, trying not to get caught by church, maybe meeting Mikołaj Kopernik.
But then... stuff happened. I felt hooked watching characters of different ages, beliefs and convictions try to reach the same goal in their own way. The story saddens you, hits you every time you need to bid farewell to a liked character, but still you have that bit of hope that eventually there will be a "good" ending.

Basically... How church wanted to stop people from inventing a theory called "About the movement of the Earth", but said people couldn't give up on that and continued on.

It's a recommend if anything.

Ooooooo sounds interesting. I got chills just reading ur summary. I have great respect for all the scientist who sacrificed so much to prove their theory. Just like that scientist who flew the kite during heavy lightning.

Then I think you will enjoy this series. I won't say anything more, not to spoil the read.

Also, fun fact. Recently amazarashi uploaded a song that features panels from the manga. The song is called "1.0". However it contains major spoilers, so I recommend you listen and watch it after reading the manga.

It's kinda disappointing to me as it set up for me an expectation of a historically realistic depiction of medieval science and philosophy, but it turned out in the later chapters to be very whiggish and there were too many characters being used to express anachronistic High Enlightenment ideas that simply didn't have enough overlap with the dominating episteme of the period for those ideas to make sense.

Don't get me wrong, tho, I don't think the manga is bad. Indeed it's better than a lot of manga of the historic genre. But it's just that it didn't turn out to be doing what I, as someone who's interested in intellectual history, expected it to do. I thought it was about trying to imagine what intellectual life in the 15C Europe was like, but it turned out to be yet another pretty Whiggish moralistic lecture on how the Enlightenment was inevitable.

nah i feel like this is gonna end up forgotten like some other very interesting hits like kasane, or my dearest self with malice aforethought.

if this didn't get the popularity as a manga like komi san or sousei no freren or something like that, then i doubt it

Is this series really good?
I read first chapter, and for a historic drama its extremely in a camp of "church bad" to the point of absurdity.
Burning random people on a stake for heresy? In XV hundreds? In Poland?
I fear how will they present Kopernik in this

this manga is very good. It's not very accurate to history it's just fiction with bits of idea here and there about prohibited books in the past. Don't stress yourself if you want good story this is it. Short read with good characters.
