#1 Yeah she got a decent amount of screen time throughout the 1st season.

#2 He still keeps fawning over her, but it isn't in some unbearable way, that would make you stop watching.

There are very important reasons why he loves Emilia, and very important reasons why he doesn’t love rem. The simping is annoying in the first couple episodes but it tones down. Still one of my favorite shows to this day.

Glad to see a new watcher of what is probably my favorite anime. Rem gets screen time in the first season, but not as much in the second, I guess you could say. Frankly Rem isn't the reason to watch the show at all. As for Subaru simping for Emilia, it isn't as annoying as it would sound (though he does try to be annoying sometimes), and his love is pretty strong, as in there are good reasons why he supports her. I hope as you watch the show that these bits about Rem and Emilia and romance start to not matter as much, or you'll be missing out on what I think is a masterpiece. It's hard to watch sometimes, but it's meant to be that way. The author is very intentional.

I'd suggest not waste your time on this show its really really bad. The main character is a pathetic crybaby and the most cringe protagonist in the history of anime. The story starts to become really really messy by S2 and its not worth it imo.

S1 was still watchable. S2 was utterly garbage, with boring snoozefest backstories, much worse characters than S1 and absolutely unrelenting infodumps which could have been handled better.

Also Rem has decent amount of screentime in S1 but she has no screentime at all in the entirety of S2 and won't in any of the following seasons. She will only return in probably S5 or later. I can't explain what happened without spoilers.

If you want a good Isekai I would suggest Youjo Senki, Mushoku Tensei, Konosuba or Slime.

Lol here comes the "but novel is good" argument. And how the fuck does that matter? The anime adaptation is garbage and that is what OP is asking about.

Not everyone has time or likes reading blobs and blobs of walls of text. People prefer anime with visuals, voice acting, it gives more life to the content.

So you can literally get lost with your cringefest "masterpice".

You better stop now lmfao.

-------

1) Only in S1, after she doesn't play much role (atleast for now in anime)

2) Yes hes a big simp, and even annoying in starting. But he will eventually become better and better as a character.

You’ll most likely enjoy it. For some reason it’s one of those anime that people refuse to criticize and act like it’s the pinnacle of fantasy/other world/isekai.

I’ll second what was said earlier. REM has a fair amount of screen time Subaru is a 100% bitch simp for Emelia and it’s extremely annoying to me. It takes him 3/4 of the first season to figure out that he’s being a total idiot. With the pace that the show moves… taking that long imo is a crime.

I probably won’t ever watch season 2 at all, just the YouTube recaps lol.

But I do recommend you watch it. I’m the kind of person that will recommend everything tbh.

Ngl I also neglected this anime for the same reasons like he's not strong, he's a crybaby and cringe but when I started this yesterday it isn't that bad but ngl tho it's a little slow but other than that a good show
And the anime you mentioned I've watched all of them (senki one I dropped)

The problems are, most people don't stick around long enough for the show to explain itself, a lot of events in season 1 won't directly make sense and may leave you confused initially ,but season 2 explains a lot of things about season 1 and it all hits you in a wonderful way if you rewatch season 1 after season 2 ,

also people don't pay close attention to detail, which is exceptionally important, they tend to skip out post credit scenes, break times and the frozen bonds ova and then they wonder wtf is going on and start criticizing the show

The only point in which this show falls off a bit is the action,if you're a die hard shounen fan ,there's just over the top action for you ,which improves in season 2 ,but it still isn't an action heavy show, so if that's your kinda thing, then I wouldn't recommend this show as much, but if you enjoy a good storytelling and deep well written characters, I can't recommend this show enough...
(I think your questions have been answered pretty well by the comments above,so...😁)

Dude season 2 was the biggest snoozefest I have seen in my life. The amount of infodump was just boring. There was too much information being given that makes you eventually loose interest. Pair that with really boring backstories, especially about characters I don't give a fuck about(Otto) and this show becomes unbearable.

Being complicated is not a bad thing. One of my favorite anime of all time is "Garden of Sinners" and its extremely complicated. You have to pay attention to what characters say, try to piece things together yourself instead of the anime holding your hand. And when you do its a wonderful feeling when you connect the dots.

However ReZero S2 is not like that. It does not balance things properly. In S1 every time Subaru looped he had one goal that he needed to fullfil and he worked towards it. But then in S2 everytime he dies new things are introduced and new plot points revealed. The story doesn't remain coherent at all. Something new is revealed everytime he dies and circumstances and situations change completely. Situation and circumstances should remain the same with just enough change to keep it interesting and not feel like you are watching the same thing again and again. But here the changes are too drastic and there are too many goals Subaru must work towards.

It becomes really messy and its not good storytelling. Pair that with a much inferior cast of characters like (fuck they were so boring I don't even remember the names let me google it). Aight so yeah, Garfield, Ryuzu, Otto, Beatrice get their arcs here and they are really boring compared to the characters who had their spotlight in S1 (Krush, Rem, Julius, etc).

Not to mention Subaru is so cringe he cries like a bitch everytime only to be comforted by a new girl(Rem, Emilia, Echidna) etc.

Last but not least, the production quality is just abysmal. Hell that one scene with Emilia(you know which one) was supposed to be emotional but oh god the animation during that scene was so bad I just couldn't connect. There was no movement just stills. Plain bad.

All in all, S1 is aight. S2 was just plain bad.

Yes ,agreed, there was a lot of information dropped in every episode, and,I don't know about you but for me season 2 was extremely interesting, initially when I first saw season 1 ,I was like yea this show is good, but that's it, and when season 2 came by, I was busy due to my exams and hence I binged entire part 1 and man it kept me at the edge of my seat, with each episode ending at cliffhangers , sometimes multiple ones, I was just continuously getting blown away by the revelations as some of my suspicions got clarified and revealed so I totally think that this was not a snoozefest and regarding backstories, I think they were nice, though personally it doesn't make sense to me how anyone could say that they don't give a fuck about Otto...

SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!!
Otto was the literal backbone of season 2, he was the reason Subaru even managed to achieve his goal, I totally felt that he was the hidden piece in the play that no one expected to be useful initially but completely turned the tide in subaru's favour
END OF SPOILERS!!

You do make a sort of a fair point there with changing conditions and circumstances, but it all ultimately boils down to cause and effect and how if you change your approach ,you get to see a completely different side of a character, none of them are one dimensional imo, and if you think about it, all of their actions ultimately do sync with their objectives, even if not immediately apparent

When you talk about characters , it again doesn't make sense to me how you could complain about the characters, in Re zero, even the side characters are so deep that they are probably deeper than the protagonists and main characters of some other popular shows, that much care is given to them, with season 2 adding a lot of depth to their character..., I guess ryuzu was boring, but Garfiel, Otto and Beatrice were all pretty interesting, especially Roswaal, it would be spoilers so not gonna say much there...

About that one scene with Emilia ,the quality was probably not good, I admit, but really, imagine the state of the studio, right now..., there's the pandemic, the studio git split In half ,not to mention they have been doing their best to adapt this arc properly and to that end ,they constantly delivered 30 mins episodes ,back to back(at least around 8 of those), with them having to pay extra money to buy that ad slot to broadcast for full 30 mins, tell me , what studio does that??

SPOILERS AHEAD!!!
regarding Subaru being cringe, assume you're in his position, with someone just having murdered the girl you love right before your very eyes and then slicing open your gut and removing your intestine and teasing you whether it hurts and are you dying?, Will you cry?
Or perhaps if you see your number 2 in this world die by getting stabbed in the back or having all of her limbs and head rotated by 360°, will you cry?, or maybe if you see a lovely girl you thought to be like your younger sister with her eyes popped out of her orbits and completely brutalised, will you cry?
Obviously not πŸ˜…, it's cringe to cry in such situations...
END OF SPOILERS!!!

All in all season 2 was the best season of re zero imo, which gets further consolidated by the mal score and the fact that it won the anime of the season award on anitrendz

Subaru is cringe on purpose in episode 13, that's what the writer made it out to be. It's part of his character and why he's like that is explained throughout the story. It's a story about self-acceptance and looking past your insecurities.

Anyway, Subaru's character is what makes Re:Zero good, if you aren't willing to get invested into that, I suggest you don't continue it.
