DamonElix said:KruxKnight said:The problems are, most people don't stick around long enough for the show to explain itself, a lot of events in season 1 won't directly make sense and may leave you confused initially ,but season 2 explains a lot of things about season 1 and it all hits you in a wonderful way if you rewatch season 1 after season 2 ,
also people don't pay close attention to detail, which is exceptionally important, they tend to skip out post credit scenes, break times and the frozen bonds ova and then they wonder wtf is going on and start criticizing the show
The only point in which this show falls off a bit is the action,if you're a die hard shounen fan ,there's just over the top action for you ,which improves in season 2 ,but it still isn't an action heavy show, so if that's your kinda thing, then I wouldn't recommend this show as much, but if you enjoy a good storytelling and deep well written characters, I can't recommend this show enough...
(I think your questions have been answered pretty well by the comments above,so...π)
Dude season 2 was the biggest snoozefest I have seen in my life. The amount of infodump was just boring. There was too much information being given that makes you eventually loose interest. Pair that with really boring backstories, especially about characters I don't give a fuck about(Otto) and this show becomes unbearable.
Being complicated is not a bad thing. One of my favorite anime of all time is "Garden of Sinners" and its extremely complicated. You have to pay attention to what characters say, try to piece things together yourself instead of the anime holding your hand. And when you do its a wonderful feeling when you connect the dots.
However ReZero S2 is not like that. It does not balance things properly. In S1 every time Subaru looped he had one goal that he needed to fullfil and he worked towards it. But then in S2 everytime he dies new things are introduced and new plot points revealed. The story doesn't remain coherent at all. Something new is revealed everytime he dies and circumstances and situations change completely. Situation and circumstances should remain the same with just enough change to keep it interesting and not feel like you are watching the same thing again and again. But here the changes are too drastic and there are too many goals Subaru must work towards.
It becomes really messy and its not good storytelling. Pair that with a much inferior cast of characters like (fuck they were so boring I don't even remember the names let me google it). Aight so yeah, Garfield, Ryuzu, Otto, Beatrice get their arcs here and they are really boring compared to the characters who had their spotlight in S1 (Krush, Rem, Julius, etc).
Not to mention Subaru is so cringe he cries like a bitch everytime only to be comforted by a new girl(Rem, Emilia, Echidna) etc.
Last but not least, the production quality is just abysmal. Hell that one scene with Emilia(you know which one) was supposed to be emotional but oh god the animation during that scene was so bad I just couldn't connect. There was no movement just stills. Plain bad.
All in all, S1 is aight. S2 was just plain bad.
