I love this show, i just dont understand why a ton of people rated it at a 1 when it hasn't even aired like 10 eps yet?

I don't know if its ur first time seeing something like this. But quite often happens. It a chinese title. Chinese title comes with their readymade 1s. Chinese titles have built bad reputation/stigma

I have not seen the show yet, so I don't know if there is any other reason

Oh lol yes ot is my first time... I guess all the other Chinese shows I seen weren't being aired at the same time? Or if they are they usually just say N/A for the rating.... I didn't know this was a thing.

Just a bias to Chinese titles and CGI in general. Donghua or chinese 'anime' is a new and emerging genre and i definitely wouldn't rate it the same as any other established anime genres. Yes of course being new the overall quality is going to be lower but it doesn't justify being compared to actual Japanese anime that's like comparing your kids science project to a published journal from a grad student. People need to take into account aspects in quality of things like genre, date or era made, platform used to create, plot and storytelling quality, etc.

i'm 7 episodes in and i'm really enjoying it. 8/10 rating so far

i've realized i like this "cultivation" stuff. and i like the chinese wuxia style of film, so these donghua shows match my interests

most chinese shows don't get many viewers or ratings. i hadn't noticed the 1/10 vote brigading going on before, but DAMN it's definitely happening with this show. i wonder if the score will shoot up once the series ends and some of the low ratings are excluded

I know right? I really like this show, if your new to the donghua genre I highly recommend Wu Geng Ji it's one of my favorites!

I was watching a bunch of "Chinese Anime" to see what they were about and this one was actually the first one I liked, so I don't know about the brigading, but a lot of them just suck.

This show though: it looks really well made, the story is engaging, overall nice, but it is an entirely different thing. First of all it's CGI, but the whole pacing, art style, setting and mostly the story feels much more like a movie than anime.

The fact that there are multiple episodes with this level of quality is remarkable.

It is maybe dumb to wonder about the limits of a genre, but maybe the low scores are a reflection of this?

This is cool, it's Asian, but it really isn't anime.

It is very different from normal anime, and I do like 2d animation. But I like this way better than most cell shading cgi. Then again this is among the very few Chinese anime that they seemed to go above and beyond with their level of production. But besides that I also love this show, very interesting plot and no over use of cliches. Very enjoyable, once you get used to seeing the cg lol

I honestly think it's a case of review bombing. I've watched a fair amount of wuxia cultivation donghua and as others said, most of them are pretty bad as a result of terrible CGI, poor adaptation from source material or 'copy & paste' cultivation tropes/clichés leading to many of what is out there to be unoriginal.

The 3D CGI animation of Wanmei Shijie is leaps and bounds beyond the majority of its competitors. The story is relatively unique from that perspective as well.

The only justification I can give to support the review bombing is based off my experience with these other titles and comparing the percentage of 1's with all 2-10's. There are many unquestionably trash adaptations that are nowhere near this percentage of 1's.

Overall, I personally like the show and haven't felt this satisfied since Soul Land/BTTH adaptations.

Me too! I literally love this show as much as soul land and Btth! It's really unique like you said, I wish people would give it a chance. It really is on a different level.

Again, I haven't read the source material but if it keeps going in the direction it is, I have incredibly high hopes for it. Sadly, aside for the potential review bombing, the fact that it's new and from an emerging anime genre, it likely will take time to generate interest. If it proves to be an incredible show, I'll take every opportunity I get to recommend it on the Wuxia subreddit. Other than that, *fingers crossed* for this series.

Seriously this show is a solid 8/10. Even if they hate CGI it's definitely not 1/10. There is something wrong with all the 1/10 ratings for this show. Most probably some kind of brigading.

Some people auto down vote anything Chinese for political reasons, whether it be them siding with Japan for some weird anime related reason or because they see this as an extension of the Chinese government.
It is what it is, people used to down vote manhua etc too a few years ago, now they're becoming more popular and accepted. I expect the same to happen with donghua...

I agree that the show is pretty good. I also love douluo dalu(soul land), and battle through the heavens. But I've gotta ask any know of any sites where I can watch this in order? Because almost all of the sites I've tried watching this on have had out of order episodes or even repeat episodes. The site I usually watch anime on only has 16 out of the 70 something episodes released for this series.

I think it is the poor story telling. The beginning is slow, boring and the kiddo mc got the ugliest design and an annoying voice+character. I took breaks, rewatched entire martial Master and then finally made it to episode 7 that was the first moment where the anime got me emotionally and finally offered some context.

So I was basically just waiting for him to grow up and get a work over, which is fucking sad considering the quality of animations this anime got.

Honestly, it is kinda fucked how there are great anime with terrible animations and 5min Episodes, and then there perfect world and stuff like stellar transformation...

Sorry this is a super late response, but maybe it will help some people. https://gogoanime.sk/category/wanmei-shijie
Just make sure you have a good ad blocker and antivirus cause some of the popups are pretty suspect.

If people have enough patience and understanding, there are lots of good donghua out there, including the very poor animations that mostly consist of 5-8 minute length excluding the very lengthy opening and ending song. Since most people who watch anime are night owls, means they have low patience due to lack and irregular sleep, or worse, they might have a bad diet, it is understandable that they can't manage to watch awful animation, and even with sick animations such as this, BTTH, soul land, WDQK (but I really prefer BTTH, top tier and can't wait for the next season) and many more. Personally, my mal score range from 7-10. As long as I enjoyed it, it's automatically 9 (this show too). Don't care about the animation as long as I enjoy it. I can even enjoy a show with just 288p.

If what I said above was not the case, then maybe they just don't like cultivation stuff, or something like mc getting nonsense revenge, almost every character is cocky, power/strength worshipper thingies., or they just don't like 3d cgi Chinese animation, or they just can't take Chinese dub at all. That's all I can say.
