So I just finished the movie and I thought it was great. I did not know this was a sequel of the anime! Luckily I didn’t feel confused. I’m hearing that the movie cut out a lot of content? Can that be said for the anime as well? Just trying to see if I should just read the manga or not.

I watched both and I reccomend the anime. I loved the Manga but as it is an anime about music, hearing them singing it's so much more emotional than just reading it. :)

i recommend both! the manga has more room to be a little bit goofier and funny, but the anime is still a terrific adaptation. and the music is so dang good

They're both great but I prefer the manga. In the anime they cut so many important moments but also the manga is a bit more serious, they look more mature as well. I usually recommend people to read it first then watch it.

For some reason in the anime (except for the apartment scene) everything feels more light hearted, I guess it's the soundtrack but it threw me off a bit.

In the manga the story is a lot sadder or at least it was for me, and you get to see the characters inner dialogues and more expressions. Not to mention more of Hiiragi, Shizusumi and Yuki! that alone is a main reason to go read it

not really, the movie omitted a lot of stuff making it lose their impact or meaning. The manga obviously did it better in that sense. Nonetheless, in both versions akihiko exists so I would reccomend you to not read the whole akihiko and haruki getting together bc you'll either hate akihiko or you'll discover you're a rapist apologist so

Watch the movie then read the manga

If you read the manga first you'll get mad at the movie, so just watch it with blissful ignorance and you'll love it

Watch first then read. The music plays a huge part, and there’s some cut content. They are both amazing tho♡

but i’ll probably remember over and over again

IMO, definitely do both!
Read the manga because some scenes are not included in the anime which I think were important and because it just hits different hehe but watch the anime too because well you can’t hear the songs in the manga haha besides while some scenes were omitted I still think the anime/movie did the manga justice.
