With such a feature, it would be very easy to keep track of our mangas. We would be able to organise which we would like to read and which we forgot to continue and also get updated on the latest chapters scanlated of our favourite mangas.

This is a suggestion though so I need everyone's view on this idea.

This suggestion has been suggested for I think.. the 4th time now including yourself? Or perhaps the 5th. I also asked about this once one or two years. Heh. Anyway, the owner of the site, Xinil hasn't shown much interest in a manga list. I think the main reason is because he has SO MUCH he could still do with the anime list (look at the To-Do topic for starters). That and he doesn't read manga I don't think...

Maybe we should organise some kind of operation to get him into reading manga.

I'd really like a manga list just cause there is a lot more manga out there and I've read so much I can't even remember anymore. I'm more disogranised with manga then I would be if I was anime list-less. But it would a lot more difficult to do. Can you imagine how many entries the manga database would have?

Can you guys imagine how difficult it would be to maintain two sites? :(

If this was my job I could pull it off...but I'm just a normal human going to college and working part time. :(

With that being said, I'm sorry but I can't afford to spend my time on other sites.

I'm interested in the project, but I don't know how I could do both sites. :-/

It would cost as well. You have to take into account the fact that we are using this for free, while Xinil is paying for the domain and maybe even for webhosting...

Excuse the blatant plug, but I actually am in the process of developing a My Manga List equivalent of My Anime List. (Though not called My Manga List)

It's funny, but I'm kind of the opposite of Xinil. I love Manga, yet I watch little to none Anime. I prefer manga over anime honestly, I just visit the site for whatever little I watch.

No I am not. I have already developed portions of it. I even showed some to Xinil when I was asking for his help in displaying Japanese Characters. Hm. I still never did figure that out.

Hmm...it shows as Japanese in the database...and I set the collation to utf-8...and it shows in phpmyadmin-why wouldn't it show in the output. Damn.

Dammit. Just google-ing your nickname gives too many results. :)

How about a linky?

Actually if you do that, the first 19 links are actually correct, excluding the FFXIAH.com. Amazing how much Google can tell about a nickname eh?

hmm. I didn't know my stats were on HLstats.com

Counter-Strike Source:
Kills Per Death: 0.36 ;_;

Whatever HLStats server I played on, I sure sucked. Hahaha, SQL error.

My project page can be found at:

But it's not public. Requires an account and login to access.

I turned off Development Mode for awhile.

Looks nice, good job. When you'll get the site working full and some material into database ill take another look and join. and maybe Xinil is nice enough to link to your site to use as a mangalist and vice versa, don't know

Hehe, too bad I registered removed and removed a couple days ago in anticipation of creating it myself. ;)

Good luck though. :-D

Mod Edit: Domains have expired and are now linking to malware, so the links were removed.

Wow really ? then u could just duplicate this page and do some minor adjustments to fit manga instead of anime =P

And then let some poor bastards fill the db =D

Xinil you wouldn't. ;_; I can't compete with mymangalist.net/.com if you use the system already in place of myanimelist

Manga database lol... there has to be at least x10 more titles.. or x20.. and ten thousand more characters. Haha. If you finish the site before I head off to university I'll help with the database. Otherwise I'll be too busy. xD I can imagine it now, how many synopsis' I'll need to write, haha. I'm still nowhere finish with the anime ones yet.

This is pretty exciting though. ^^

"copying over everything here and putting it there"

Hehe, if only it were that easy...

You couldn't have the same username for both sites (you'd need to register on the other one too).

But yeah, don't plan on this happening anytime soon, it's just in the process, perhaps sometime over summer.

I still have a chance! XD

The "couldn't have the same username for both sites" statement, is this an ethical or technical choice?

I'm sure it's the latter since it's possible to copy databases and keep only selected data/structure. Just curious.

Right but, I mean when someone registers here, they wouldn't be automatically registered on the other site too. I could copy all information and transfer it there, sure, but that's almost wrong, heh.

Theoretically, since you could initiate another database connection if it's on another database and insert the appropriate rows on registration.

In fact, a database connection is only optional. You could use XML to have both applications communicate to each other. Similar to how IP.Converge by Invision Power Services works. Brilliant product IP.Converge is, allowing you to share one member system for multiple Invision Power Boards.

Frankly, it's easier to keep one account linked (like sharing avatars and signatures) because it saves on database space and simplicity. One profile is even better since chances are, a portion of users on either website will follow you around.

How can you store encrypted passwords on an XML file though in order to authenticate a user?

Linked accounts sound like a security nightmare.

What's so unusual about an encrypted password? It's the same as a string of text.

Right, but I don't think people would appreciate having their encrypted passwords displayed for anyone to see (assuming they knew the way to the XML file).

Hm? If you implemented the right security measures, that'd be nearly impossible.

If you required it to be accessible only at a secret location, passing the right parameters (like 2 access passwords or values), checking the accessing computer's IP then it would be very difficult to access it.

In fact, if you think about it-a connection to a SQL server is easier. You only need to know the host location, username and password. Many hosts don't check for the accessing computer though some do.

It's virtually identical. If it still makes you uncomfortable, it's not as if initiating another database connection to grab the details is considerably more difficult.

In addition, even if they managed to pierce that veil of security, it should never, never, absolutely never come to this and shouldn't even be necessary since this shouldn't ever be seen by the public-you should have at least used a salt when you encrypted the password along with running it at least twice though the encryption scheme: once with the original password, and again with the salt.

In reality, if you know what you're doing and taken sufficient security measures, it's very difficult to hack a web application.

My god, they actually manage to make a mangalist! O.o I never knew this idea was possible since they are like 10x more titles than anime!

Thanks so much to the dedicated people who made this possible for fans!
