I put up the threads for the Summer Bishoujo Poll and for Suggesting nominees for our Fall Bishoujo Poll later on! Also, I noticed no one has put up a thread for welcoming/introducing new members, so feel free to do so! :DIt's also important for us to keep this club active, so also feel free to talk about anything bishoujo-related, anime-related, or just anything that could start a conversation. For those of you who have watched Kanon 2006, do you think Nayuki was a good nominee choice or do you think another character from Kanon would've been a better one? Also, the club description describes this is one that's "dedicated to those girls who present their elegance and beauty in anime", but there are characters who do so in manga as well, so if you all think that we should include characters who are solely in manga as well (when it comes to our Bishoujo Contests), let me know! (Asking, since I don't believe I've seen a manga character nominated here before.) Same goes for anime-like video game characters. Bishoujos are also present in those games. Let me know if you'd all like them included in our Bishoujo Contests as well. =) |

I completely understand your point about the past pictures looking sexually oriented (women used as sex objects), and we can put up pictures that don't show that, but please don't use this picture as an example because it COMPLETELY contradicts everything you just said for a number of reasons:1) You don't want to put up pics that can be interpreted as showing women as sexual objects, but this pic that you want up does just that. The second part shows the girl in the school outfit with money tucked into her uniform (could be interpreted as being like a prostitute), not to mention the blush and minor sweating, which can allude to sexual activity. (There's also the POSSIBILITY of pedophelia in this pic, judging by the adult-like size of the woman next to her, but, for all I know, it could just be a girl who's very big for her age.) 2) Even if you don't see anything sexually inappropriate in this pic, this is clearly ethically/morally inappropriate, at least. Bribing someone to hang out with you so you can be "friends"? Based on monetary value instead of mutual interests/personal values? That's just wrong. If the $ wasn't in the pic, I wouldn't mind it as much. Also, it is important for everyone to know that women have their not-so-presentable sides, but here is not the place to put up representative pics (as a main club pic) to show it to everyone. Our club is all about bishoujos (PRETTY/CUTE anime girls), so that's how we have to keep it. Don't take it the wrong way. I do believe that all women should be respected like everyone else, regardless of looks, ethnic backgrounds, etc. However, if we start showing the not-so-presentable side of anime girls in the club, then no one will take our club seriously for what it's suppossed to be about. We'll, more than likely, receive fewer new member, and we'll, more than likely, lose current members because they'll think of us like this: "I think the meaning is completely lost to you guys." By putting this pic up you're killing the very being/meaning of the club, and, if you or WhiteBlue can't see that, then I've lost all hope for this club. I've tried to keep it alive, but this is too much. :( |

I think this club picture is appropriate and WhiteBlue and I have decided this should be used for the month of March. Why? Currently, this club has a very narrow view of women. I want to post some deviations from the standard anime pictures of women. The current image of Misaka is trying to show women are not some sex objects that exist merely to look pretty. That they too are humans and have not-so-presentable sides to them. But even that side is beautiful in its own ways. Try to see that if you can't. Because only then can we truly appreciate bishojo for what they are. Until then, we have a very shallow and biased view of bishojos. |

Hey everyone! I put up a Spring Bishoujo Poll, using suggestions from the Spring Bishoujo Suggestion topic and a couple from the last Bishoujo of the Month topic that didn't make it to the poll. Vote for your favorite before the end of April! ^_^There is also a Summer Bishoujo Suggestions topic, which is accepting suggestions for favorite bishoujo until the end of April. :D I changed the club pic back to one of the older ones because the one that was put up doesn't really belong in a club like this. :/. I'll put up a new club pic soon. =] Lastly, if anyone wants to help with keeping the club active/updated by being an admin/officer, let me know via PM or post on my profile page. :) |
