I still say they have great rpg better then most out there for ps3 if you know of any for ps3 maybe even ps2 that are better I'd be happy to hear them I loved the kingdom hearts series also like ffxi

when square became square enix TRUE rpgs went down hill :(
squeenix , for the most part, is disappointing.

I hope StarOcean 5 will be on PS4.
I dont get it, why they want give up with this series :(.
This is one of main reasons why i dont like square-enix.

i'll check out this dolphin emulator your talking about, biggest issue would probably be slow framerate ....

Atelier is still turn based, but it's not like the Iris series. It is back to the more traditional sim style and time management, which is something not many rpg players like. Plus thematically it is closer to slice of life than the linear story driven rgps. I was able to enjoy it once I accepted that the point is getting all the events and endings, instead of trying to for a near perfect game.

And I already played Xenoblade last year as I live in Europe. US got the release too a few months back. I guess you could also use the Dolphin emulator, but I prefer to play with a console if at all possible.

As for SO, I doubt it will come back, but tri-ace had that tech-demo last year so maybe they're cooking up something:

same here! star ocean was definently in my top 3 series.
and ya last hope was pretty good. arumat is deeeeadly haha

i only tried one atelier game, that was about 5 years ago? maybe more. is it still turn based, classic style ?

hope it's not done with... maybe they will release one on ps4.... long wait though : l

until then the tales games are a great substitute. battle style is very much like star ocean. and they're going to be releasing more tales of games soon in english :)

I hear star ocean series is done. Too bad, as I really liked the SO games. I even had fun with The Last Hope despite its bad reputation. Very fun dungeons and gameplay, but it lacked some things that made 2 and 3 so good.

As for the genre dying, I kind of find myself having more JRPGs to play than ever, some very good ones too like Xenoblade and Valkyria Chronicles. Also loved the Atelier Arland series, although it is definitely not for those who like their JRPGs with "epic" stories.

Currently playing Atelier Iris 3 myself. After playing three games of Atelier, I kind formed an addiction to this series and thought to play it as it was sitting on my shelf for years.

i remember for ps1 and ps2, there was tons to choose from... now - ps3. well... it's been quite a while and slim pickings XP
