Constellation RP - An Adventure in Space

Information

__________________________________________ Welcome to Constellation RP! In this club, members will assume the roles of various crewmembers and characters from the future novel series Constellation and play out the story which will be featured in upcoming releases. Members will be able to shape the story of future books by being active in the story, enabling groundbreaking concepts in novelwriting included but not limited to Main character switching sides, switching main characters alltogether, crucial characters dying and having to be replaced by RP characters and more. The setting

The story is set in a future version of our current reality. As natural rescources grow scarce, the world is forced to unite under a single banner named the United Earth Colonies or UEC and seek refuge amongst the stars. Having sought, found and seeded countless frontier worlds and outposts, the humans return to earth to sacrifice the last of their rescources and come to final descision about their next home. A lone moon is chosen, by the name of New Eden, to serve as the foundation of humanitys next great era. A ship is built, bringing together the brightest heads and the most cutting edge technology known to us, and in the year 2142, the ESS Constellation was launched from Cape Canaveral carrying the best, brightest and most qualified personell to the new world. The humans who stayed behind, left to their fate in a broken world. The year is 2147, and we join the story at a turning point in human history. After encountering an Alien species whose ships seemed to consist of some form of pure energy given physical form, we found that our kinetic weaponry was too much for them and found ourselves much to our surprise with the upper hand in our first galactic skirmish. After years of unsuccessful attacks on the human settlements on New Eden, the aliens launch yet another assault. The Captain of the Constellation, fueled by pride and arrogance from enjoying easy victories for too long, orders the premature testing of a new weapon system. The feedback loop from the prototype Ionizing Iridium Howitzer caused a catastrophic meltdown in the ships electrical systems. Dead in the water, with no shields, no weapons, propulsion or life-support, the captain orders the crew to abandon humanitys last source of military might as the aliens ordnance found their target for the first time since they first clashed. However, due to the ships automated astromechanical robots, the Constellation regained Warp capabilities just as the Captain prepared to go down with the ship. Without thinking, the Captain punches the warp-drive, and gets the ship out of the area. We join the story here, as the captain along with a stowaway girl named Leah and his star mechanic Robert try to get their bearings and bring the ships life-support back online. Stranded in space, and with the crew spread across the galaxy, our goal is to find a way to bring the ship back online, find our missing crewmembers, and bring them all home. But with NAV broken at launch, there is no way of telling where the others ended up. Our only way is to search the stars~ Welcome, to the ESS Constellation!!
The Crew

The current crew consists of the DM, a handful of NPC's, and whoever has a confirmed role at start up. Remember that this is a dynamic RP, and this lineup may change drasticly many times over the course of our Roleplay. Captaincy will change, roles will swap and chars will die and need their apprentices to take over their roles. Promotions, demotions, whichever the path the role you choose on startup is by no account final and may change many times as you roleplay. The names of Roles can also be changed via interraction in the RP, for example, just ask the current captain for a titlechange more fitting your preference. DM = Dungeon master/storyteller NPC = Non-playable character, controlled by the DM or an admin. MIA = Missing in Action, this means the slot is open and can be claimed by anyone wishing to join the RP. N/A = Same as MIA, but for Frontier Settlers only. Roles - Role status/Player name ________________________ The bridge Captain - Psynergi (DM) Chief of AstroMechanics - Robert Carlyle (NPC) Stowaway - Leah Mormont Navigational Officer - MIA Gunnery Officer - MIA L-SASO (Life-support and Shield Operator) Officer - MIA Combat General/leader of war/wartime commander - MIA Artillery Section Master of Cannons - MIA Cannoneer1 - MIA Cannoneer2 - MIA Interior Medici/Lead Doctor - MIA Cook - MIA Astromechanic1 - MIA Astromechanic2 - MIA Scientist/Medic1 - MIA Scientist/Medic2 - MIA Flight deck Flightleader - MIA Jaeger Pilot 1 - MIA Jaeger Pilot 2 - MIA Test pilot/Crazy ivan - MIA If you want to join the ship, but cant find a role you want, feel free to suggest a role in the Suggestions and Help thread and an administrator will add your role to the list.
The Ship

The ship itself is a class of its own, named the Constellation class after the Constellation itself as the first of its kind. The class combines the longevity and reach of a Carrier with the armor and power of a Battleship. Its a warship unlike any other, and stretches three times the length of the Titanic placed end to end. Its design is of typical human origin, sleek with black, grey and white titanium platings shining in the starlight. It houses the bridge, a high-tech combat platform designed to grant the operators maximum overview and control over the field of battle. A holographic table dominates the middle of the room, which can project the ship and everything around it as a spherical hologram. Like a dome, anything that gets close enough will show up on the hologram in real-time, giving the operators a look at what goes on outside. Behind it, placed one step up from the rest, was the captains chair facing forward towards the Holotable. At its sides were two chairs facing left and right, each belonging to the Gunnery Officer and the L-SASO Officer respectively. And on the other side of the table, the front, were the rest of the bridges stations in a U-shaped console lining the windows to offer the operators a better view outside during calmer times. In combat, the entire bridge lowers into a "bunker" inside the ship, granting the bridge-operators superior protection against shocks, impacts and radiation while managing a combat-situation. Moving on backwards from the bridge, we enter the main hall. Its a circular donut-shaped hallway with an elevator in the middle which leads to the obervation, artillery and crew decks respectively. The door on our left down the donut-hall would lead us to the Life-support systems area, and the right-hand door to the Ship-AI core which is off-limits. To our front, at the opposite side of the donut and further towards the rear of the ship, we find the doorway leading down into the Mehcanichal and Maintenance chambers aswell as the Mess hall where the cook and his line-chefs prepare food for the crew. The mess hall is large enough to easily house the entire crew. It is powered by a Twin duo of Generation 4 LFTR Nuclear reactors, providing a near infinite supply of power to the ship as long as they are maintained. For armament, besides the 4 Jaeger drones sitting in the hangars, the Constellation sports a number of automated autocannons to intercept incoming missiles or asteroids during a shower. In additon, the Gunnery officer on the bridge is in direct wireless control of two forwardmounted Mass-driver cannons firing kinetic projectiles, aswell as the ships main weapon which is a gas-powered laser named Thors Hammer. In addition, the gunnery officer can deploy a wireless attack-drone fitted with one pair of neutron-torpedoes (more on the spesifics of the weapons during the RP)
The Frontier Settlers

Alternatively, you can also play as one of the missing Settlers on New Eden. Your roleplay experience differs greatly from the ones on the Constellation, as you will be more free to move around and explore aswell have the responsiblity/freedom to be more creative with your characters story an his/her interraction with the enviroment. For story-purposes, no Settler will be able to live in New Eden until the Constellation reaches that planet. This means that anyone starting a Settler character will start "missing", in the middle of the woods somewhere on the planet and your job will be to survive, band together with other settlers and either make a new village or try to find out what happened to the New Eden outpost/village Chancellor - MIA Councilmembers 1-4 - MIA If not spesified, you will spawn as a free settler with the same goal as the chancellor and his councilmembers: Survive, prosper and possibly try to contact Constellation once the Settlers are....hehe...settled :3 (Sorry, i had to)
(Note that this club is in its BETA stages, and stuff is prone to change up to several times)

Ya know what is going to be fun? Say for example you start out as a combatant for the exploration team and your character sees somebody do something cool. You then start to learn more and venture into their fields progressing your character and maybe even lead up to a change of jobs for your character. ;3

Psynergi | May 15, 2014 7:31 AM
Changed the scientist role so anyone choosing scientist can take up anyone of those fields ^w^ And you can choose more then one field btw, but only one will be your "main" sorta ^^ Although by reading books or training with others (like in RL) you can study other fields and add them to your own. There is no limit to learning, so you can learn as many fields as you like within reason ofcourse given the lifespan of a human x3

Scientists are also prone to be conscripted into joining ground-teams becouse of their expertise x3

As for exploration...I think there should be more scientists. Biologists, geologists, etc.
An Astronomer and perhaps a cartographer?

baxter09 | May 13, 2014 10:11 AM
Makes sense the point i was trying to get across is that even though they might be good on the battlefield during these explorations they still need to rely on their team and arent a one man army that can do everything

Psynergi | May 13, 2014 9:34 AM
THe flight team is responsible for general security and escorting personell when we explore new planets. But yeah, we should have some roles that encompasses exploration.

baxter09 | May 13, 2014 9:23 AM
Would there be an observation team/exploration team that would say go down to the new planet or whatever first? Maybe a role that is more for this or protecting the people on the party so something along the lines of and Agent/fighter that uses weapons instead of using the ship and stuff.

They would mainly be responsible to deal with threats that the group might encounter and so are better at combat situations however with them training more solely on this area their other skills lack. So when it comes to creating tech or whatever they aren't as good so need to rely on others to aid them as well.
