If i become pro, we could spar sometimes;)

Rethardus | Apr 11, 2010 5:21 AM
You know what could be handy too? A maize bag.

Jesuvius | Apr 11, 2010 4:01 AM
I don't know if it's a franchise, but OLB. It was only €30,- or something. The board to hang it on was €70,- but you can easily make that yourself. I made it and it coast around €20,- to €30,-

Now that you mention it, they always show the heavy bag training. But I guess they only show stuff that's relevant to the story (like hitting hard on the bag implies that Ippo is going berserk).

And it's more dynamic to watch someone punching than doing training with the ropes or speed bag.

Where'd you buy one by the way? I really want one.

Jesuvius | Apr 8, 2010 1:13 PM
I just got a speedball myself. Man those things look way easier to use than they actually are.

And is it just me, or do you (almost?) never see one in Hajime no Ippo. It's always the big bag for them :P

Like I said, if I get the chance to become pro, I probably will, because I know I'm quite determined with my hobbies.

Anyway, what I'm doing now is sparring with friends and with no head contact, because we don't have head gears, and I train by jumping ropes and hitting the heavy bag, and doing random excercises, like what you're implying.

Jesuvius | Apr 7, 2010 8:46 AM
Yeah but you can also do boxing without actually sparring. You just learn how to hit and move properly and you build up your stamina.

Also, head gear makes it fairly safe in a spar.

Beginner's level boxing isn't really dangerous at all

Rethardus | Apr 4, 2010 3:33 PM
Well, it's only 10 Euros for students, and it'll be 4 professional matches and 4 amateurs, I guess that won't be disappointing.

As for doing boxing myself, I want to do it so badly, but boxing is such a dangerous sport, especially for your brain.

I don't care about physical damage, but I don't want my brain to be damaged in a sports. I know that I'm extreme in my hobbies, when I like it, I won't be able to give up. I guess I'm better off just practicing combinations on my heavy bag...

Jesuvius | Apr 4, 2010 1:00 PM
Only sucky thing about a boxing match is that you can spend so much money on it, and it can still be over in a couple of seconds :P

I picked up boxing myself this year and next year I hope to participate in the national university fights =D

Rethardus | Mar 31, 2010 12:46 PM
Hey, I'm a boxing n00b, but recently (this half year) I began to do research about boxing and stuff. Because of Ippo, like the most of us I guess, such a silly reason, but I'm grateful.

I already liked fighting, I used to fight, whether for real or to spar.
But then I discovered boxing because of that single anime.
I immediately bought Fight Night 4 when it was released, I started to look up information about the greatest fighters out there, and recently, I finished the biography of Ali.

Meh, I guess I'm ranting here. My point is, I love boxing so much now. I hope you guys are going to promote this club, making it more active so we can discuss our hobby.

Anyway, I'm going to attend a boxing match as a viewer for the first time. So exciting, it's in about a month, even though the names are not big (Belgian people), I really want to see a real match myself.

Jesuvius | Mar 31, 2010 11:17 AM
So I was right, these are the only boxing anime. And most of em aren't even that good :P

Anyone catch the Klitschko/Chambers fight? =D

JadeValkyrie | Oct 12, 2009 7:34 PM
