Sorry, poor sarcasm on my part.

Go watch Ralph Bakshi's Lord of the Rings adaptation if you wanna see some awesome rotoscoping used the right way. His way of using it in moderation to depict just the villains was really cool.

And also A Scanner Darkly, which is probably more well known these days because it's modern.

"the minor issue of rotoscoping" what you talking about man? the fact that it uses rotoscoping is what makes it unusual! is the reason why it is here haha.

FLCL is good indeed, is quite similar to Dead Leaves.

mudri | May 13, 2014 2:43 PM
Oh yeah, the minor issue of rotoscoping. I forgot about that!

Kemono no Souja Erin is going on the “plan to watch” list. That kind of popularity/rating ratio worked well for Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei, and I hope this will deliver the same.

I started watching FLCL, as did a friend of mine (on the same day, without either of us mentioning it before). Should be quick, but looks interesting.

Plot aside man, the style of animation and art of SY are quite average and common (unlike the entirely rotoscoped Aku no Hana), the same could go for a few series listed here, but we already said that it is ok for all of them to stay here, so you arrived a little bit late.

BTW, give Kemono no Souja Erin a watch we got it recently added to the lists!

mudri | May 12, 2014 12:28 AM
Okay, I watched Aku no Hana, and if that belongs here then there's no doubt about Shinsekai yori. It's just that it's very difficult to discuss Shinsekai yori without hitting a spoiler.

Doomroar | May 11, 2014 11:18 PM
We should also add the Movie of Saint☆Onii-san (the OVAs are already listed here)

Thanks a lot! well an update per year is pretty much all i need anyway.

I'm watching Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei. This series is awesome! I love the art style. It really reminds me of "Ping Pong - the Animation" that is currently airing.

Thanks Foggle.

Hi folks. I pretty much never pop on MAL anymore, so I'm very sorry that I haven't added any of your suggestions this year. None of the other admins are active at all, and I don't want this club to die because of me, so I'd be willing to make one or two regular commenters admins. Just let me know if you'd like a promotion!

I have now added Oruchuban Ebichu, Super Milk-Chan, Potemayo, Kikumana, Space Dandy, World Conquest Zvezda Plot, Hoozuki no Reitetsu, Ping Pong, and Kemono no Souja Erin to the anime relations. I'll keep Shinsekai Yori in there for now, but feel free to discuss whether or not it (or anything else) actually belongs in this club and potentially remove them if necessary. I've also added Redline to the relations because it's very distinct in most aspects, much like the rest of Koike's original work. Feel free to remove that one as well if you disagree with my choice.

The description is indeed outdated, but I don't want to change it out of respect for the original club creator. Sorry if it's misleading.

Yes!

galimx | Apr 26, 2014 10:50 AM
Ping Pong! Master Yuasa =)

Doomroar | Apr 20, 2014 10:23 PM
Did we added Ping Pong? we are missing out yo!

Doomroar | Apr 19, 2014 4:49 AM
I agree! but hey, if one of those is already here then we must have the other, even if neither are what you would call unusual, i want some equality here! XD.

LayedBack | Apr 18, 2014 6:39 AM
Also I'm not really sure if I'd put Kemono no Souja Erin in the unusual category or not. I've always sort of thought of it as the perfect sort of hybrid between Studio Ghibli fantasy and World Masterpiece Theater storytelling. But either way its one of my top 5 favorite anime.

Doomroar | Apr 18, 2014 6:26 AM
Me neither, maybe someone could enlighten us.

LayedBack | Apr 17, 2014 8:08 PM
I definitely don't see what's so unusual about Shinsekai Yori...

Doomroar | Apr 17, 2014 5:32 PM
Oh that one was so good! but other than the fantasy setting and the flying fluffy wolves, i found it quiet normal, but if Shinsekai yori made it, then Kemono no Souja Erin should definitively be here, i even remember it having some water color animation at some points when they do flashbacks and explain parts of the history within the story.

LazyRaki | Apr 17, 2014 2:51 PM
I´m missing Kemono no Souja Erin in the list.
